General Responsibilities
The Faculty Development and Learning Innovation is seeking a Library Circulation Clerk to join the team. This position is responsible for working at the HCC Library as scheduled. Provide customer service to students, staff, and faculty of HCC. Uphold and administer Library and college policies. Resolve issues as they may arise and communicate effectively with other staff and supervisors. Work under the direction of the Head of Reference and Instruction Services and Circulation and Access Services Manager to provide the optimal Library experience for users. This is an on-campus/non-telework position.This is an on-campus/non-telework position.
Work Performed
  • Assist patrons with checking-in and checking-out library materials
  • Handle fines and fees accurately
  • Utilize the library's catalog and databases to locate and retrieve books and resources
  • Shelve and edge material
  • Perform opening and closing procedures
  • Support the usage and reservation of study rooms
  • Monitor noise levels and guide users to appropriate areas
  • Provide basic computer and technology assistance for printing, scanning, copying, saving, downloading, and uploading.
  • Answer patron questions and direct them to Library and college campus resources/services
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Education Required High School or equivalent
Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 0
Other Knowledge Required
  • Previous work experience in a library setting, preferred
  • Flexible
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and push up to 50 pounds and bend
  • Fine motor skills for operation of computer terminals
