The Civil Engineer - Standards and Review provides engineering expertise and quality assurance guidance for the annual Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP). This position assists in reviewing plans and engineering reports for quality and conformity to MCDOT Standards, assists the Standards and Review Engineer with maintaining MCDOT's Standards, and assists with developing standards related to the implementation of OpenRoads Designer. This is the journey-level class of the registered civil engineering series; incumbents are responsible for complex assignments requiring technical proficiency and exercise initiative and independent judgment within defined technical and procedural limits.

We Require
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
Three years of professional engineering in transportation projects
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration or by the technical board of another state, with the ability to obtain Arizona Registration within six months of employment
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire and have an acceptable driving record

Experience using MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, and BlueBeam
Experience working with the Maricopa County Department of Transportation Standards
Experience completing engineering designs of roadway or drainage-related projects
Job Contributions
Review plans and engineering reports for quality and conformity to MCDOT Standards using Bluebeams
Assist the Standards Engineer with revisions to the MCDOT Roadway Design Manual, Standard Specifications, Standard Details, and Bid Item Master list
Assist MCDOT Designers with project-specific special provisions
Facilitate the development of CADD Standards, sample plan sheets, civil cells, CADD tools, and the implementation of Bentley OpenRoads Designer
Collaborate with MCDOT's Designers on the creation of QA/QC tools for use on In-House designs
Assist MCDOT's CADD Group and MCDOT Designers with the implementation of Bentley software such as OpenBridge Designer/Modeler and Subsurface Utilities
Complete design projects to include scoping reports, construction plans, specifications, and estimates.

Working Conditions
Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, or negligible amounts constantly; sitting most of the time with occasional walking or standing for longer periods of time
The position is typically located in an office environment. Field work may be required. Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures (hot or cold), wind, rain, traffic hazards, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
