Our growing Sports Medicine program is interested in speaking to licensed Physician Assistants who have a strong sports background throughout schooling, such as a PA who may have been a former ATC or PT student. Do I want this job? You want a position working with a busy and productive provider. You enjoy working with a variety of trained medical and administrative professionals. Be understanding that our patients are hurting and may not always be super pleasant, however, they are very grateful. You enjoy the surgical aspect of providing orthopaedic care to patients. You are aware that on-call may be necessary and be able to work the hours for this position. This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. Must be sensitive to employee goodwill and the business needs.
Can I do this job? Under general supervision, you will provide independent acute and/or routine medical care to a specified patient population. Must possess the ability to work independently, possess critical listening skills, and the ability to communicate clearly (verbally and written). You must have a kind, curious and respectful disposition. You may need to be on your feet for long periods of time. You may also need to transport, position or hold patients when necessary. You must to be able to lift at least 50 pounds for select tasks. You must maintain an active CPR Certification (DMOS requirement for Physician Support Staff). You are required to meet all vaccination requirements of each institution they work in to retain credentialing status; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification if required for institution requirements.
*Compensation: Starting compensation banding for new graduate Physician Assistants is $95,000 and higher depending on background experience. Compensation banding for experienced Physician Assistants is based on years of experience and skills in sports medicine. What does an outstanding PA have in terms of background? Successful candidates in clinic may have had prior sports or athletic experience in clinic. A Physician Assistants Degree from a state accredited PA Program. You must be practicing (preferred) or pass the exam administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and be eligible to practice in the state of Iowa while working as a PA. You must maintain your license.
