Job Overview

Assist the lead teacher in the laboratory child development center at the Arlitt Center for Education, Research, and Sustainability to demonstrate high level early education teaching practices.

Essential Functions
  • Take direction from the lead teacher to implement a safe and high-level educational program for a diverse group of children in a fully inclusive multi-age preschool program, assuming full responsibility in the absence of the lead teacher.
  • Organize and maintain classrooms, outdoor learning environments, and equipment to demonstrate a safe, healthy, and nurturing early childhood program; this includes cleaning up the classroom before, during, and after class sessions, meals, and other activities and taking responsibility for storage and organization of materials.
  • Under the guidance of the lead teacher, prepare and implement appropriate curriculum activities and maintain a positive relationship with young children that fosters the development of positive self-concepts; create play and learning spaces and materials that meet the goals of the Arlitt curriculum.
  • Serve as a role model for university students who observe, complete practica or internships, or work at the center.
  • Participate within the Arlitt Center professional community of learners and research and evaluation studies as appropriate.

Required Education
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Trainings/Certifications
  • Must meet requirements and participate in trainings for ODJFS childcare licensing, NAEYC accreditation, and Head Start standards and maintain a profile with the OCCRA Ohio Professional Registry.
  • Must pass a physical and criminal background check.
Required Experience

One (1) year of experience working with preschool-aged children.

Additional Qualifications Considered

In lieu of an Associate's Degree, will also accept two (2) years of experience and Child Development Associate (CDA) certification.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
