Job Title: SAS Intern

Department: Data Analytics Group

The Opportunity

Econometrica is looking for interns to learn and assist with SAS programming tasks on a range of projects in the healthcare, education, housing, and U.S. Census areas. Participants in thisinternship will have the potential to obtainfull-time employment.

For this position, the candidate will develop and modify SAS code in support of our technical projects. Programming tasks may include the following:

  • Import, clean, and analyze data.
  • Develop conditional logic.
  • Use data steps and PROC SQL to combine and aggregate data.
  • Assist with producing reports and deliverable files for clients.
  • Perform quality assurance and participate in code reviews of clients' deliverables.
  • Create and maintain documentation for generated work products.

Education & Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2 SAS-related classes or trainings.
  • Familiarity with SAS programming environment and syntax.
  • Experience using a programming language (SAS, R, Python) for a school project.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • GPA 3.5 and higher.
  • Ability to write basic SAS code.
  • Knowledge of data merging techniques using SAS data steps and PROC SQL.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Experience with Python, Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Experience in developing visual dashboards.
  • Experience with database tools and SQL for data manipulation, aggregation, and validation.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or similar quantitative field.
  • Applicants must be in the last semester of obtaining their bachelor's degree or recent graduates.

Work Environment

This position is remote, though candidates may choose to work in Econometrica's office.

The office is located in beautiful downtown Bethesda, MD. We are located at a Metro stop within walking distance of great restaurants and local fare. We have a typical office setting with a quiet-to-moderate noise level.
