Position Description

Compensation: $44,319.64 - $53,737.57

Position Summary:

Responsible for coordinating activities during an event at the Palladium Theater, either directly or by supervising temporary house managers assigned to the event.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Oversee all activities leading up to and during performance events;
  • During event, coordinate communication among performer, crew and house; maintain a scheduled intermission; resume event after an intermission - having checked backstage, crew and front of house;
  • Assure a pleasant and personable atmosphere at all events and for all volunteers and crew;
  • Respond to patron and vendor requests;
  • Assure patrons' and artists' safety and welfare before, during and after event;
  • Responsible for restoring theater after events and nightly lock-up of building and supplies;
  • Maintain and schedule temporary house management, volunteer usher and concessions staff;
  • Be prepared to handle a medical emergency or patron disturbance.

Incumbents support theatrical productions by coordinating customer service activities for performance events. Responsibilities may include recruiting, training and managing volunteer or student staff; planning, coordinating and monitoring concession or box office sales; coordinating security activities; coordinating marketing or promotion activities; responding to customer needs; maintaining records; and preparing operational reports.

Requirements:

Education:

Associate's degree in a related field to assigned area; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

Five (5) years experience supporting theatrical productions. Minimum three (3) years experience as stage manager or house manager with a professional theater organization preferred.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: climbing, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, and travel.

Plans, coordinates and monitors concessions sales, which include: assessing customer needs; managing system and database; determining discounts and pricing structures; supervising cash handling procedures; and monitoring security activities of the center.

Monitors the installation and testing of audio, lighting and video systems; coordinates the technical and support staff.
