Overview

Job Purpose

As a Sr. Technical Writer, you'll work in a fast-paced environment providing detailed end user and administrative documentation support for customer-facing ICE Mortgage Technology products. You will do hands-on product testing and research, as well as obtain technical content from subject matter experts and release documents which you will then translate into clear, concise, procedural documentation. Some projects require new documentation that you write from scratch, while others will entail editing content from other contributors or repurposing existing documentation in order to meet the project's requirements. Your portfolio should include samples and examples of technical information that is explained in an easy-to-understand way for experienced and first-time users.

Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on with the products to test and understand new features and functionality, and document as you go. As an integral member of each product release, you'll provide release notes, online help, user guides, and more to ensure clients understand how to use the new features coming their way.
  • Work closely with Product, Development, QA, and Technical Support teams to develop high-quality, detailed documentation for end users and system administrators.
  • Deliverables include release notes, online help, user manuals, white papers, videos, and additional projects requested by clients, product managers, and Technical Support.
  • Write content in a single source (MadCap Flare) for publication to multiple outputs including online HTML/XML, PDF, desktop, and mobile platforms
  • Participate in cross-team meetings to stay informed about new developments and release timelines and provide updates on documentation projects.
  • Provide insights and suggestions about the best way to present information to clients and new ways to deliver existing content. Build on client requests and respond to the clients' satisfaction level on a regular cadence.
  • Must have experience managing multiple projects at once, be flexible, open to feedback, and be able to manage priorities in order to scope projects effectively

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in reviewing, developing, and delivering technical documentation (preferably for software) via online help, release notes, user manuals.
  • Bachelor's degree in technical writing or similar
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written communication skills; Must be comfortable identifying subject matter experts and getting the answers you need.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Experience meeting multiple, tight deadlines
  • Experience in the home mortgage industry a big plus (but by no means a requirement)
  • Experience working on a SCRUM team in an AGILE environment; working with JIRA strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Madcap Flare, Word, Adobe FrameMaker
  • Comfortable working with source control tools, such as Bitbucket and Github.

Schedule

This role offers work from home flexibility of 1 day per week.
