Position Identification:
Non-Exempt
Reports to: Operating Unit President
Salary- $38.00 per hour BOE

Position Summary:

Functions as a floating Superintendent between Production and projects and ensuring job safety (implements OSHA regulations for the construction industry pertaining to roofing work), quality, productivity, minimizing of company risk, attend job meetings and adherence to construction specifications and schedules. Coordinate with Project Manager by regular contact, weekly project review and monitoring job costing. Additionally, as a crane operator, you will be responsible for operating cranes on various types of construction sites including: commercial, industrial, government, military and other industries. You must also understand how to operate equipment such as hydraulic lifts, loaders, trailers, etc.

Job Functions:

Pre-Job Startup
  • Coordinate schedule and invitations - Customers, consultants, subs, foreman, manufacturer reps, etc.
  • Develop safety plan
  • Determine set-up specifics
  • Acquire site rules and regulations, agreeable hours of operation
  • Arrange for customer or temporary restroom facilities
  • Complete existing condition report with photos
  • Confirm cores, measurements as necessary
  • Request / coordinate equipment, specialty tools, material adjustments
  • Discuss interior protection responsibilities


Job Overview with Project Manager and Project Foreman
  • Facilitate proper set-ups and job starts
  • Maintain customer communications and required reporting
  • Coordinate / supervise sub-contractors
  • Manage risk to property
  • Enforce adhesion to safety plan
  • Maintain quality control
  • Manage / track labor rates and project goals
  • Ensure job site professionalism - proper job site organization, presentable uniforms, clean trucks and overall company image
  • Conduct job completion inspections / post-job customer walks


Crew Training and Field Support
  • Help further field employees by facilitating cross training
  • Train on acceptable application / repair techniques
  • Field training on how to conduct leak inspections / communicate with customers
  • General mentoring, team building, proper conduct, influencing employee attitudes and morale boosting


Department Responsibilities
Many of the outlined responsibilities overlap with other positions by design. The ability of individuals to fill-in at any level of company business limits the operating unit's potential weaknesses and makes for an overall stronger team.


Main objectives: Contribute to overall profitability, growth and success of service department and company.

Position requirements: General knowledge of roofing industry standards, manufacturer's specifications and basic computer usage. Well-developed people / communication skills. Experience in determining leak sources and all manner of repair techniques.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following...

General Service Department duties:
  • Obtain building permits and business licenses
  • Perform site inspections and roof take-offs
  • Provide estimates for service work
  • Help develop safety plans
  • Prepare proposals
  • Follow-up on additional recommendations made by field leaders
  • Create service work orders
  • Conduct site safety audits
  • Assist field crews when necessary

Customer service
  • Post-job / leak follow up results / satisfaction interviews
  • 24/7 emergency contact
  • Maintain availability to quickly resolve customer issues


Safety Responsibilities

Safety Representative: Directly reports to unit president and national safety team.

Main objectives: Maintain incident free work place and improvement for safety records. Establish and maintain safety conscious culture.

Position requirements: Ability to recognize and eliminate hazardous conditions. 30 hour OSHA certification. General knowledge of Cal-OSHA regulations, available safety equipment / products. Experience in developing and installing safety set-ups. Experience in the usage of all types of safety equipment. The ability to obtain certifications and train / certify others.

Safety Responsibilities
  • Provide new-hire safety orientations
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings
  • Facilitate quarterly training - fall protection, OSHA 10 hour, competent persons, First aid / CPR, defensive driving, fork lift, aerial platform, CERTA / torch, fire safety, inspecting equipment, etc.
  • Organize annual safety day


Enforce safety absolutes:
  • Help field personnel embrace and understand safety program
  • Develop and initiate safety plans
  • Perform regular site audits
  • Ensure adhesion to local, state and company regulations
  • Make safety corrections and discipline as necessary
  • Manage risk of property


Reporting and record keeping:
  • Keep organized records of all training, certifications, disciplinary actions, equipment disbursements and inspection reports
  • Submit monthly corporate reports
  • Provide first report of injury, auto accident or property damage
  • Conduct incident investigations
  • Conduct follow-up interviews and implement new action plans as necessary


Crisis Management:
  • Mitigate OSHA inspections and interviews
  • Mitigate property damage claims
  • 24/7 emergency contact
  • Maintain availability to quickly resolve customer issues


Crane Operator Requirements:
  • ValidCommercial Driver's License (CDL) Class Aand clean driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • NCCCO Certified
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and snow


Occupational Health and Safety:
  • Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control
  • Active participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety
  • Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace


Working Conditions:

Physical surroundings: Office environment with typical office machines and exposure to noise and temperature.
Physical Effort: Will access roofs, year round, all weather conditions, as necessary to oversee production and work with clients.
Travel:
Hours: Work may require some weekend and evening work
