Job Title: Toxicologist
Location: Durham, NC 27560
Duration: 03 years to Permanent
Shift: 40 Hours/Week (Mon to Fri)

Minimum Education:
  • Master’s

  • DABT Preferred, not required.

Deliverables:
  • Meet with evaluation team members, and other staff to input to meeting agenda topics or questions
  • Provide written comments (e.g. email, word documents) on protocol, monographs related to evaluation
  • Response to inquiries (email or reports) on and other topics
  • If needed, draft specific subsections (short) of protocol monograph or made revisions (if needed) to PCTFT monograph
  • If needed, provide input related to the peer review of roc monographs

Provides technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life:
  • Provides input on developing the approach for evaluating mechanistic data of nitro polycyclic hydrocarbons including the methods for a literature base evaluation and critically reviewing the write up in a cancer hazard assessment monograph
  • Provides input on read-across approaches for evaluating cancer hazards of subclasses
  • Provide toxicological input for the Report on Carcinogenss cancer hazard evaluations, especially the nitro polycyclic hydrocarbons evaluation
  • Provides toxicological or chemistry input on other health hazard assessments and the handbook

Assists with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures:

Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings
Provides critical review of the monograph section on animal cancer studies of nitro polycyclic hydrocarbons
Interprets study findings and may drafts short sections of the monograph
Prepares, organizes and maintains various lab samples, supplies, and equipment
Learns new laboratory techniques and procedures
