Arconic is currently in search of an Extrusion Process Engineer to join our Kawneer - Building and Construction Systems business in Cranberry Township, PA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide operations support and search for technologies related with new equipment and processes associated to extrusion and ageing of extruded aluminum
  • Manage projects in a manufacturing environment with the goal to increase efficiency, productivity, improve quality and OEE
  • Provide day-to-day technical advice, problem solving and support to operations and maintenance by applying engineering principles, reliability tools to drive problems to root cause
  • Develop and propose equipment modification plans based on failure data, craft feedback and OEM design modifications
  • Be hands on and apply lean manufacturing mythology on the shop floor with production
  • Ensure compliance of projects and maintenance work with appropriate engineering standards
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time including subcontractors
  • Support operations in improving process management and performance. Key success factors include improving line performance and quality throughput, reducing change overs, reducing equipment downtime, reducing cost, improving overall OEE and efficiency
  • Support operations on failure investigation, leading root cause analysis
  • Serve as the extrusion department expert for continuous improvement tools and processes
  • Partner with area supervisors to development continuous improvement strategies that directly support department Hoshin goals, then implement these strategies on the sop floor including the tools and processes required to sustain the improvements in the future
  • Document and develop manufacturing procedures, train operators, support operations needs
  • Interact with process network, setup data analysis via ODBC's and Sql, develop PowerBI dashboards, develop OSIPi historian charts
  • Deploy Smart manufacturing concepts to improve operational efficiency including execution of project and outcome with department support
  • Define activities that require engineered solutions resulting in reduce waste, improved quality, improved throughout, improved safety
  • Analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement through data-drive methods, root cause analysis and statistical tools
  • Troubleshoot processes issued with maintenance team and/or local process engineers
  • EHS: Environmental Health and Safety Engagement - being SPA on at least one Safety Topic to Operation Pant


Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-year Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Institution
  • At least 3 years of industrial manufacturing experience
  • Experience with discrete manufacturing, data analytics, process control and smart manufacturing concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic PLC and HMI Programming Experience
  • Machine control design and build
  • Process Engineering
  • Process Control Methodologies
  • Statistics
  • Experience utilizing continuous improvement tools
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing on the shop floor in manufacturing operations
  • Expert knowledge of Lean Manufacturing theories, methodologies, standards, and tools to generate meaningful, quantified improvement in: cost reduction, efficiency, shortened cycles, improved quality and reliability or safety
  • Experience training and coaching plant personnel to achieve productivity savings using Lean principles and tools
  • Successfully implementing and support systemic change efforts across a diverse organization
  • Experience on performing OEE studies to identify true production bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Understand discrete manufacturing processes
  • Ability to mange process and troubleshoot, setup data analysis using ODBC's and write basic SQL statements
  • Understand process networking software (servers, programs, machine-interactions)
  • Smart manufacturing gand collaborative systems
  • Project management - knowledge on project management methodology
  • Lean manufacturing - knowledge on lean manufacturing methodology
  • AutoCAD skills for creating custom or modified details/drawings
  • Proven data analytics skills with previous experience on data collection, historians and problem solving
  • Initiative - job requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction
  • Problem Solving - job requires advanced problem-solving skills and experience in structured, root-cause problem solving methodology
  • Disciplined execution - job requires daily execution to the plan: when required, he/she will need to be able to dive into details to ensure operational success
