Role and Responsibilities:

The Lead Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the floors and baseboards throughout the building to provide a safe and hazard-free environment. The incumbent will perform general, routine cleaning, maintenance, waxing and restoration services.

  • Work with a team that primarily composed of individuals with disabilities.
  • Responsible for operating various types of floor care machinery including floor buffers and scrubbers.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of hard -surface floors, carpeting, stairwell, elevators, elevator tracks, including but not limited to dust mopping, mopping, stripping, and refinishing, carpet extraction, and carpet bonneting,
  • Scheduled stripping, scrubbing, buffing, refinishing, or sealing of different types of hard-surfaced floors using appropriate equipment and chemicals.
  • Scheduled carpet cleaning using approved methods and chemicals.
  • Spot cleaning of carpets as needed.
  • Report defective or unsafe equipment to supervisor.
  • Transport broken equipment to designated location
  • Extract liquids from carpet and treat areas appropriately.
  • Responsible for securing the working area, using appropriate safety barricades, and removing when duties are completed and the area is safe for public use.
  • Maintains parts and equipment inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed parts.
  • Introduces his/herself to customers when working in their areas, providing any safety precaution instructions, and ensures the environment is left in the appropriate safe manner.
  • Consults with supervisor concerning assignments and keeps supervisor informed of activities, needs, and problems as appropriate.
  • Performs floor care equipment maintenance and repairs: Dismantles devices, replaces defective parts, adjusts and calibrates equipment, installs new parts, lubricates, cleans, and tests equipment.
  • Receives assignments and work orders and reviews them for priority status and designated time schedule.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Assist with supply deliveries and put them in the proper storage areas
  • Complete all assigned work order requests
  • Lift and move heavy equipment and supplies.
  • Read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of chemicals and products
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum of One (1) year of commercial Custodial/Janitorial experience (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands:

  • Required to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods of time.
  • Able to follow safety procedures and guidelines.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, gran and lift up to fifty (25) lbs.
