What you'll do:
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing agreements to secure favorable arrangements.
- Ability to understand project requirements, forecast needs, and develop procurement strategies to meet timelines and cost requirements.
- Discuss technical requirements with vendors such as dimensions, tolerances, finishes etc.
- Act as a technical resource for the Procurement department.
- Prepare and present possible solutions to management when issues arise.
- Participate in vendor reevaluation and audit activities in tandem with quality department.
- Compare bids from vendors and determine, or assists with determination, to whom contracts will be awarded.
- Reviews cost proposals and pricing information to determine best options that meet needs and quality standards.
- Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products, with attention to specified target market and demographics.
- Prepares and processes purchase orders, contracts, and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Review open purchase orders with vendors to ensure delivery is on time, of quality, and accurate.
- Maintain information regarding vendors' performance and quality of product(s).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University OR 4 to 6 years related Technical/Purchasing experience, OR a combination of education and experience
- Strong understanding of electronic components, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Proven Purchasing experience, preferably within the electronics industry
- CPIM or CSCP certification preferred
