Departmental Overview The Department of Plant & Microbial Biology is committed to the University of California's mission of dedicated research and to providing a superior education in plant biology, microbiology, and related life sciences. We integrate fast-changing technology and developments into our research and develop collaborative partnerships with other scientists and research institutions at UC Berkeley and around the world. Responsibilities Incumbent will participate in an NSF Plant Genome Research Program funded project (Award Number: 2332611) investigating the intersection of circadian clock activity and low temperature tolerance mechanisms in sorghum and foxtail millet. The laboratory is located off campus at the Plant Gene Expression Center in Albany, CA. The incumbent will work together with a postdoctoral researcher and collaborators at University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Incumbent's primary responsibility is to organize and execute large scale collection of tissue samples from sorghum plants exposed to various light and temperature conditions, send samples to collaborators for transcriptomic, metabolomic, and lipidomic analysis, and storage of the data sets from collaborators multi-omics analysis of these samples. In addition, the incumbent will contribute to generation and maintenance of transgenic plant lines testing cold- and circadian clock-regulated promoters.

It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $58,490.82 (step 1.0) - $59,697.89 (step 2.0).
