Responsibilities

The Licensing Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training, licensing (certification), and retention of qualified foster parents. They are responsible for assuring that foster parents maintain up-to-date training and knowledge in all aspects of working with troubled children and their families. They will attend seminars and be certified as a trainer in the various curriculums used in the care and treatment of troubled children and their families. They will provide ongoing training and re-certification (re-licensing) foster parents as needed.

The Licensing Coordinator provides continuous feedback on service quality by monitoring service delivery, foster home quality, and the program's effectiveness with children and families who have a variety of social, psychological, and medical needs. The Licensing Coordinator works with the Program Manager, Clinical Supervisor, and case managers to maintain excellence in treatment and care through constant review and in-service training considering the changing needs of children, their families, and the public placing agency.

The Licensing Coordinator must be an organized individual with good oral and writing skills. They must be capable of training individuals and groups. They must be willing to travel, maintain flexible working hours, and work on weekends. They must be able to use various tools to measure the effectiveness of training and ongoing training needs. They must understand state licensing rules and regulations and forms for licensing and/or certifying foster parents. They must be capable of compiling data and providing written reports to the Executive Director, the Program Manager, the Clinical Supervisor, and the public placing agency as needed.

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIP: The Licensing Coordinator will work cooperatively with agency personnel, treatment staff, foster parents, and public custodial agency workers. They must be innovative and flexible to meet with a variety of interruptions, demands, decisions, and circumstances. They will be a positive role model for effective, productive, cooperative working relationships.

PUBLIC RELATIONS: The Licensing Coordinator communicates frequently with foster parents and prospective foster parents, other public and private agencies, and the state licensing agency to ensure that foster parents receive the best possible training for caring for troubled children.

The position includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Recruits, trains, and recommends foster parents for licensing or certification.

Provides ongoing evaluation of foster homes and training of foster parents.

Provides re-certification (licensing) of foster parents as dictated by state rules and regulations.

Maintains up-to-date file on all foster homes in accordance with state and agency requirements.

Works with the treatment team to find the appropriate foster home for the needs of the child.

Plans, schedules and/or conducts foster parent support groups as scheduled.

Attends, represents and promotes the agency's program at foster care meetings of local, state, and federal public social service agencies, and other community social service providers.

Qualifications

The Licensing Coordinator will have a graduate degree in a social work, sociology, psychology, or related filed from an accredited college or university, and two years' experience in the treatment of troubled children and their families. An undergraduate degree and five years' experience working with children and families may be accepted in lieu of the graduate degree.
