Summary of Position

The Accounting Manager is a member of the Accounting and Finance team working with the accounting systems to complete general accounting responsibilities. This position will be responsible for managing a small finance team while still being actively involved for the monthly close cycle, account reconciliation preparations and reviews, general ledger entries and researching / explaining variances. This role will work closely with operations and procurement to properly account for inventory at month end, analyze PPV, and to update standards.

Essential Functions
  • Independently and accurately complete assigned monthly journal entries within published Accounting timeframe and guidelines, ensuring compliance with both US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Oversee plant accounting, including, COS, and inventory.
  • Maintain appropriate skills and knowledge of Accounting systems and tools.
  • Support Accounting by utilizing software to analyze data.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and approvals for all transactions.
  • Manage a team of 2-4 accounting/finance professionals.
  • Complete and review all assigned monthly & quarterly account reconciliations.
  • Review monthly/quarterly trend and budget variance explanations for financial reporting with management.
  • Prepare the required "Client Prepared Schedules" and complete prior to the start of audit field work.
  • Work with auditors to provide sufficient support while overseeing the team's audit responsibilities.
  • Assist in department process improvement & controls.
  • Perform special Projects assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree with concentration in Accounting required.
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience required with strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); experience with IFRS a plus.
  • CPA or MBA/MAcc preferred.
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Excel, Access, HFM, Infor XA and Word.
  • Strong finance and analytical skills; clear ability to work with people in a seamless manner; superior use of excel and ability to quickly learn other IT systems; ability to work with senior management and exercise good business judgement.

Working conditions:

  • Normal office environment with a minimum of 4 days in office.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
  • Close attention to detail required.
  • Willingness to work in a team-based environment.
  • The position deals with many deadlines. Due to the short turnaround time of deadlines and limited time other departments have to complete the information, overtime is sometimes required.
