Overview

Planned Systems International, Inc (PSI) is seeking an experienced Software Developer to support our Government customer in Washington DC (remote). The purpose of the project is to provide design, development, and operations support in a Java environment and using Government Furnished Equipment / tools ( i.e. JIRA, and Continuous Integration tool) for the DOEHRS-IH Support Services.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will and provide full software development lifecycle to support our DHS client. He/she will work directly with the program manager and individual team members to provide a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. The successful candidate's core responsibility will include, but not to be limited to:

    Evaluating cyber and performance results and providing recommendations for changes affecting short-term project growth and success.
  • Functioning as a technical specialist on cyber findings such as WebInspect, jQuery upgrades, PenTest findings, Struts, and DMDC.
  • Responsible for program designing, coding, unit testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Instructing, directing, and checking the work of other task personnel.
  • Troubleshooting production problems related to software applications.
  • Designing and developing new software products or enhancements to existing software code base.
  • Consulting with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.
  • Performing feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.
  • Assisting in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools.
  • Resolving problems with software and responding to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
  • Utilizing agile scrum methodology
Minimum Requirements
  • BS degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field and at least 6 years of experience in designing software systems, domain analysis and implementation. An equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience maybe considered.
  • Experience as a developer with a progressive record of accomplishments in the IT field.
  • Hands-on SDLC experience (i.e. planning, implementation, designing, deployment, and testing).
  • Hands-on programming with Java/J2EE, Hibernate, Struts, Security vulnerabilities and mitigation
  • Ability to manage software development efforts using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, UML Diagrams and other accepted design tools and technique experience.
  • Experience using front-end technologies like JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Ability to determine level of effort, size and schedule for software enhancements
  • Experience reviewing existing programs and assisting in making refinements, reducing operating time and improving existing techniques.
  • Experience with responsibility for quality assurance and evaluation of existing software products.
  • Solid oral and written communications skills
  • Proven experience working in an agile scrum environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required. Selected candidates must have an active government clearance.
