For candidates based in New York State, this position typically pays between $17.00 - $19.00 per hour.

Temporary Assignment: 3 to 6 months; with the opportunity to bid on a permanent position within HP Hood LLC.

Schedule: Overnights, 10-hour days, four days per week, daily overtime as needed to fulfill deliveries.

Mondays start at 1:00 am,

Tuesdays start Monday at 11 pm or Tuesday at 12:30 am,

Wednesdays 12:00 midnight,

Fridays start at 11 pm Thursday night.

Job Summary:

Assist Distribution Drivers with unloading, checking the quality, and delivering the product along the assigned delivery route. As a Driver Helper you will not drive the delivery vehicle but assist the driver in the delivery of products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This is a physical, fast-paced, outdoor position that involves continual lifting, lowering and carrying of product.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the assigned delivery route and be familiar with product handling requirements.
  • Must represent the Company in a courteous, ethical, and professional manner at all times.
  • Unload and check the quality products at a customer location, rotate and check the quality of products.
  • Driving alongside a Class A Driver to different locations in order to assist the driver with deliveries.
  • Handles any customer complaints professionally
  • Handles company equipment properly, follows written driver safety rules, and performs a pre-trip and post-check inspection.
  • Must be a cooperative team player and work with drivers, customers, managers, supervisors and peers.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Handcart and electric pallet jack experience highly preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Reading and writing proficiency and ability to identify colors.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic.
  • Know the product delivery schedule.
  • Ability to multitask and work as a team.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent moving of product up to 50 pounds during the shift; infrequent moving up to 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb on and off the box of the truck.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, pushing, and pulling.

Work Environment:

  • Cold warehouse environment.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (hot weather, rain, and extremely cold temperatures).
