Job Description
This position will be responsible and accountable for leading the Global Program Team (GPT) to create and execute an integrated development strategy which coherently integrates the clinical, non-clinical, regulatory, medical affairs, manufacturing, commercial, and market access plans to support successful submissions, approvals, launch, and life cycle activities. It will create a culture of collegiality and respect to enable high-performing teams while fully embedding the Patients First culture within the integrated development plan, and across all decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage team accountability for functional deliverables including challenging the team members on their assumptions and plans
  • Partner with GPT members, cross-functional leaders, and other stakeholders, to provide leadership and direction to drive portfolio and cross-functional alignment, risk management, and decision making.
  • Navigate governance bodies to effectively lead GPT discussions and align GPT strategy with senior management at Sarepta.
  • For partnered programs, may serve on the Joint Steering and/or Joint Development Committee(s)
  • Develop program strategy in collaboration with the Global Program Team (GPT) and senior leaders/key stakeholders.
  • Responsible and accountable for leading the Global Program Team (GPT) to create an integrated development plan (IDP) based on the program strategy which coherently integrates the clinical, non-clinical, regulatory, medical affairs, manufacturing, commercial, and market access plans to support successful submissions, approvals, launch, and life cycle activities
  • Works with GPT members, cross-functional leaders, and other stakeholder to ensure effective execution of the IDP. This includes: a) Setting and achieving GPT goals and metrics in line with IDP and corporate goals, b) Proactively identifying issues which may impact the program before they arise and supports development of contingency plans for highest risk / highest probability issues to enable the team to effectively mitigate risks, c) Identifying and communicating project-related issues to senior leaders as needed and manages issues to resolution, d) Helping the team to frame relevant decision scenarios, weighing the evidence, and clearly articulating risk-based recommendations for governance review and endorsement.
  • Chair the Global Program Team and works with the program manager to: a) Set meeting agendas based on critical program needs, b) Allocate appropriate meeting time to facilitate team discussion, c) Proactively raise concerns to teams, d) Address issues and active challenge of positions, e) Drive team action plan, f) Assess discussions to be taken off-line, g) Communicate and document decisions and action items
  • Interact with cross functional leaders and governance bodies to drive and maintain alignment on program strategy, decisions, risks/mitigations and ensure team is adequately resourced to deliver on program goals
  • Provide input on long-range planning and annual investment planning as needed.
  • Global Program Team Lead may also serve as a sub-team leader based on subject matter expertise and resourcing needs.
  • Develops and implements best practices for team effectiveness
  • Serve as a member and act as a key contributor to the R&D Extended Leadership team
  • Accountable for deliverables of assigned Global Program team
  • Ensure alignment with organizational business objectives both within the R&D Organization and cross-functionally.
  • Drive program risk-based decision making
  • Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the program, R&D strategy, and the business.
  • Expected to present and contribute to presentations at governance committees including Executive Committee, and other appropriate Business forums
  • Work on objectives that have critical program and corporate impact
  • Erroneous decisions may result in critical delay(s) in schedules/ business operations & may jeopardize overall business priorities

Desired Education and Skills:

  • BS or equivalent
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of industry related experience
  • Prior management/Leadership experience in a matrix environment is required
  • Prior experience leading Global Program Teams (or equivalent) required
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical industry with experience across areas within clinical research, regulatory, pharmaceutical sciences, marketing, or other drug development related area.
  • Utilizes extensive drug development and pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience to enable the team to deliver on priorities and goals by: a) Articulating and driving program strategy, b) Identifying and resolving critical program issues
  • Significant experience leading multiple cross functional teams in different stages of the drug development process from early-stage research through to registration/post marketing activities in matrixed organizations.
  • Expert strategic problem-solving ability
  • Highly effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills necessary to manage, motivate, and drive decisions.
  • Proven skills in negotiation, influencing without authority and working diplomatically through conflict.
  • Ability to create a culture of collegiality and respect for diverse contribution to success.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend process improvement; ability to suggest, develop and implement best practices.
  • Solid sense of accountability and sound judgement; highest ethical standards and focus on quality and details.
  • Experience working with stakeholders/partners at all levels, globally, across the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and functional systems.

This position is remote. However, you will be expected to work on site at one of Sarepta's facilities in the United States and/or attend Company-sponsored in-person events from time to time.

The targeted salary range for this position is $248,000 - $310,000 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta's compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
