About the Role:

The Morningstar Creative Services Team is looking for an exceptional Senior Manager, Marketing Content with a passion for creating powerful communications that inspire action. In this role, you will provide vision and strategy in support of writing efforts that span brand, product marketing and research amplification programs.

Your leadership will motivate a team of writers to deliver the highest quality work with an emphasis on demand generation and integrated marketing campaigns that drive business impact. You will develop brand fortifying and innovative solutions for marketing campaigns, brand content, website, video stories, events, email, social media-all while advancing message consistency and scalable frameworks. All candidates must have a passion for marketing innovation, automation and creating content with scale and systems in mind.

This position is based out of our Chicago office and hybrid attendance is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with segment marketing, content strategy, and product marketing to understand target audiences and how our offerings help address their needs and pain points
  • Write, review, or guide copy from strategy to concept to execution, delivering powerful and beautiful marketing assets across channels and platforms
  • Drive collaboration within a cross-functional marketing team to meet marketing objectives and ensure an integrated, synergistic creative approach
  • Enable writing team workflow and processes to provide effective, efficient development and delivery of optimal creative product
  • Collaborate with channel experts (e.g. website, email, social media) to analyze performance data and optimize content
  • Solve for on-page content strategy
  • Develop a high level of visual literacy, understanding of typography, illustration, iconography, color theory, and imagery
  • Provide evaluation, mentorship, and counsel to direct reports
  • Monitor all project milestones, deliverables, and risks to account leaders and senior management, communicating progress, issues, and accomplishments
  • Promote copywriting with digital searchability and primary key terms in mind and apply evolving SEO best practices
  • Take sophisticated financial data and analysis and distill it into clear, simple headlines and copy that connect with our audiences
  • Oversee a marketing messaging system, including message maps and external language, that encompasses each stage of the marketing funnel and accommodates our full portfolio of products
  • Champion automation, explore use of AI tools, and find opportunities to build content sets that increase speed to market, without sacrificing creative quality

Qualifications:

Other qualifications:

  • 5-8+ years of marketing copywriting experience, including website, digital advertising, SEO, social media, email, event promotion, brand narratives, case studies in an agency or corporate environment, 2+ years of management experience
  • Experience writing and adapting brand voice to various audiences, purposes or media, through the marketing funnel while ensuring alignment to master brand
  • Excellent oral/written presentation skills; proficiency in preparation and presentation of creative work
    Ability to work in a fast-paced, virtual environment managing multiple stakeholders, projects, and priorities
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and tactics
  • Experience in financial services and/or global brands is a plus
  • Proficiency in Word and ability to embrace various content management systems
  • Familiarity with quantitative practices, like A/B testing and writing within messaging matrices
  • Bachelor's Degree in Writing, English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or a related field
