Position Summary
The Production Engineering team is seeking a motivated co-op focused on Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineeringto assist with a variety of intriguing tasks. This is a great opportunity to familiarize or expand your knowledge of point-of-use mass spec and Raman devices and learn how multi-physics and data science come together to produce practical results.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn what it takes to produce these systems and assure their quality.
- Assist with build tools and fixtures screen for weaknesses in critical subassemblies.
- Design and run experiments to investigate problems in production or in the field.
- Design and build setups for experiment measurement and data collection.
- Experience the process of creating, characterizing, and commercializing new technologies and products in a rapidly growing company.
Skills & Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in a college or university and eligible for co-op (July - December) or summer internship.
- Coursework in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience/exposure in a production environment for complex instruments or devices in a previous coop are preferred.
- Comfortable with hands-on work such as assembling, disassembling, tinkering, modifying complicated devices.
- Good at problem-solving and testing ideas through measurement and data collection.
- Familiar with mechanical design, 3D printing, electronics circuit design, electronics bench, optics, test automation and coding.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively operate in a cross-functional team environment.
