Description

Install and maintain Database Software on various platforms. This will include DB2 on z/OS and DB2 Universal Database (UDB). Work with Oracle, Oracle Golden Gate, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDb. Work with the application development team to manage service requests. Provide ongoing monitoring of the various database environments. Manage databases backup and recovery strategies, and review SQL for performance considerations. Administer, maintain, develop, and implement policies and procedures which ensure the integrity and security of all McLane Company database structures. Assist in designing and implementing physical database designs. Perform capacity management of storage, central processing unit (cpu), and memory.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Understand the proper use of databases and sharing technical knowledge when working in the Mainframe,
  • Linux and Windows environments.
  • Participate in system's performance tuning and capacity planning for DB2/Oracle/SQL Server databases.
  • Schedule, plan, install, and test new products and improvements to computer systems, such as the installation of new databases.
  • Assist with integrating different products so they work properly together, such as customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs.
  • Ensure that proper data protection procedures exist for backup and recovery of databases.
  • Design, develop and implement software routines which automate repetitive database administration tasks and monitor for exceptional database conditions which require immediate notice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • One or more years of experience working with database administration across Mainframe, Linux and Windows environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good Problem solving skills.
  • Willing to adapt and learn in a constantly changing environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Hybrid Office / Telecommute.
