40Summary:
he Behavioral Health Therapist provides behavioral health support and psychotherapy for patients and families within a pediatric primary care setting. The Behavioral Health Therapist uses various therapeutic interventions including individual and family therapy, supportive counseling, and crisis intervention. This role provides psychoeducation to adolescents and/or caregivers of patients coping with acute and chronic medical and mental health conditions. Ongoing supportive counseling is provided for patient/families to promote wellness and maintain functional behaviors. The Behavioral Health Therapist works within a multidisciplinary team and collaborates with the patients primary care physician and treatment team to advance the medical plan of care. The therapist may also collaborate with various agencies to support the familys effort in caring for their child.
Education and Experience:
Masters Degree in Social Work or related field Experience with pediatrics and adolescents required
Experience providing therapeutic interventions required
Experience in health care or multidisciplinary setting preferred
Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
Relationship building
Effective interpersonal communication
Adept at working in a dynamic team environment
Critical thinking, problem-solving and self-motivated initiative
Ability to plan and organize effectively
Proficient in use of computer applications
Certification/Licensure:
Must be licensed in the state of Texas: LCSW or LPC
