As the supervisor of a hardworking and accomplished team of test technicians, you will set technical direction, build team members to support current and future program needs, be responsible for employee life cycle including hiring, performance management, training and providing tools for career development. You will help to improve technical processes, best practices, and tool development around focused areas of launch vehicle test planning, execution, and hardware development cycles.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multidisciplinary test teams in day-to-day operations

  • Build and manage the Production Test Vehicle Integration Team, including developing resource plans and profiles, authorizing job descriptions, conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, assigning tasks, and conducting performance reviews.

  • Responsible for establishing workstation assignments, employee training, overtime assignments and back-up for absent employees

  • Maintain and communicate integrated vehicle test schedule status to ensure meeting customer expectations

  • Interface with area leadership to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals

  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications

  • Provide second level escalation support to employees regarding HR issues (employee relations, worker's compensation, disciplinary actions, timecards, PTO requests)

  • Identifying Continuous Improvement opportunities and implementing change to improve process, reduce cycle and setup times

  • Review work instructions and provide recommended changes where necessary

  • Forecasting and developing recovery plans for constraints critical to vehicle delivery schedule

  • Assure continued training and skills development to attract, develop, and retain great people

  • Provide continued training and skills development for team members, and mentor early career team members

  • Ensure start-up readiness for production

  • Maintain test facilities organization, safety, and cleanliness

  • Support design for manufacturing and provide job planning estimates

  • Safely work within an industrial environment

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of management experience

  • 15+ years' experience in aerospace test and operations

  • Root cause and corrective action analysis experience

  • Understand the department KPI's metrics to improve performance

  • Strong communication skills with a heavy customer focus

  • Must have a continuous improvement mindset

  • Clear understanding of production versus development environments

  • Fluent in use of precision hand tools

  • Familiar with use of personal computers

  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • 12+ years in a direct/indirect supervision position, working on aerospace development programs or production lines.

  • Broad/deep scheduling and planning skillset

  • Project planning and Integrated Master Schedules

  • Proficiency with resource loaded schedules using Primavera (P6), Open Plan, MS Project, or other software

  • Experienced in handling large aerospace components

  • Experienced in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment

  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware
