Summary of Job Duties:The postdoctoral research scholar position is available with the Modernizing Fertilizer Recommendations: Fertilizer Recommendation Support Tool, or "FRST", initiative. This project has developed a soil-test and crop-response-to-fertilization searchable web-based tool that provides more consistent, transparent, and science-based decision support for nutrient recommendations across the USA for major crops.

This position will involve working with a team of land grant university and USDA scientists (>100) involved in the FRST project with specific responsibilities of the collection, curation, and addition of relevant data from published and unpublished soil-test correlation-calibration trials, performing QA/QC of collaborator data, participating in laboratory trials, performing statistics on soil test correlation and calibration datasets, and developing presentations and manuscripts for publication. This postdoctoral research scholar will work closely with the programmer to ensure the integrity of the database. We also expect this position to help maintain the FRST website (soiltestfrst.org), work on a user survey, and help develop and facilitate other FRST activities. A valid driver's license is required as driving and overnight travel may be required.

The successful candidate will work as part of a coalition led by the University of Arkansas, NC State University, Penn State University, Utah State University, University of Minnesota, and USDA-ARS. The Post-Doctoral Fellow position is located in Fayetteville, AR.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Soil Science or a closely related discipline with a focus on soil fertility with experience in soil chemistry, plant nutrition, and especially soil testing. Candidates should have a working knowledge or experience with soil test correlation/calibration research and demonstrable statistical experience. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with faculty engaged in soil testing.

Preferred Skills:

Use of relational database systems, and knowledge of data management, literature review techniques, and data mining.
