Job Description

YMCA International Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston's significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. As a case manager on our team, you will play an integral role in helping refugees, asylees, Cuban border crossers, Special Immigrant Visa holders, and victims of human trafficking gain access to a wide range of social support services with the goal of becoming self-sufficient.

Under the general direction of the TPAP Coordinator, the TPAP Housing Case Manager is responsible for the oversight and direction of the TPAP housing program which includes providing resource management and other housing support to victims of human trafficking.

Specific Responsibilities

TheTPAP Housing Case Mangerprimary responsibilities include:

  • Screen clients who are accessing services for housing needs, as referred.
  • Complete annual re-certifications, interims, and new contracts promptly.
  • Maintain client files, respond to client/landlord requests, and process forms related to the Housing Program.
  • Provide support and case management services to clients through the housing application and leasing processes, and other housing opportunities; and provides ongoing support once the client is housed to ensure they remain housed.
  • Manage and maintain the list of housing client referrals, call to complete screenings, and schedule initial appointments.
  • Ensure the property's operations comply with the policies and procedures, Fair Housing, and other applicable laws and regulations governing our operations.
  • Initiate and manage all core business processes, including; leasing, resident relations, maintenance, and adhering to the city and affordable program requirements.
  • Conduct quarterly home safety checks.
  • Monitor, maintain, and control property expenses with an accurate and on-time submission of all reports.
  • Assess client financial support, teach and promote money management skills.
  • Provide information and referrals to clients as requested or assessed during a session.
  • Educate and support clients while advocating for their rights and preferences.
  • Work with TPAP Advocates to address client's mental health, housing, transportation, employment, and other barriers and discrepancies that may increase the risk of homelessness.
  • Assist TPAP Advocates locate and secure emergency shelters and placements.
  • Participate as a member of a 24-hour Crisis Response Team which includes assisting first responders with assessment of potential victims of human trafficking and placement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other Responsibilities

  • Complete all training and requirements that are grant required and/or recommended by the TPAP Coordinator.
  • Participate in YMCA's All Staff Meetings, airport pickups and food distributions when assigned.
  • Completion of required trainings per YMCA of Greater Houston policy.
  • Participate in and cover for all other YMCA International rotating duties.

Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or Social Sciences (or related field).
  • English speaker with proficiency in Spanish.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (some weekends and evenings), which include responding to call outs on a rotating basis 24/7.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain caseload of clients while meeting deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license; clean driving record; reliable vehicle, and applicable auto insurance.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse population, to include individuals with disabilities, substance abuse, and those who identify as LGLBTQ.
  • Proficient in computer applications and programs, such as Word, Microsoft Excel, and the utilization of the internet and social media in performing job duties.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to manage time and resources.
  • Able to collaborate and work effectively with YMCA staff and community stakeholders.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
  • Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  • Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance.

Training Requirements:

  • Complete additional trainings as identified by supervisor. Motivational Interviewing, Crime Victims Compensation Training, Mandatory Reporting training, Trauma Informed Care Training, and any other trainings identified by supervisor.
  • Hours of Business: 8:30am-5:00pm.Some evenings and weekends will be required.
