Function:

Environmental, Health & SafetyJob Summary:

The EHS Auditor is responsible for leading and participating in audits to assess the effectiveness of the CF Locations meeting CF company and regulatory compliance expectations. This position also requires becoming proficient in an area of CF compliance expectations and supporting related activities from a Corporate perspective.

Job Description:

Major Responsibilities:

Compliance Support and Industrial Knowledge

  • Build and maintain both CF industrial and compliance expectations knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and CF internal standards based on internal and external information available.
  • Responsible for being familiar with CF internal standards and how they apply to CF Locations
  • Participation as a member of the respective CF Council assisting with tasks as needed, and work with the Corporate EHS Manager to share Council and audit information.
  • Review information in Corporate EHSQ Management Information System (EMIS) Database EMIS system to look at trends/reports

Leading and Participating in Audits

  • Assist as team member in various types of audits, as needed.
  • Once demonstrated appropriate level of competency and training:
    • Schedules, manages, conducts and leads audit team throughout the process of Location audits. In charge of setting up the audit protocols, and leading audit meetings once demonstrated appropriate level of competency and training.
    • Work with and manage third party auditors who assist on audit team.
  • Lead auditor will utilize Corporate EMIS system to set up audits and generate reports. Audit team member will input audit findings into Corporate EMIS system.

Breadth of Scope:

  • Position provides independent verification of facilities' compliance with Company policies, industry standards and governmental regulations with respect to environmental, health and safety compliance matters and serves to alert management to deficiencies.
  • The position will have developmental focus with emphasis on the development of skills needed to interface with the CF Corporate standards and evaluation of existing management systems for compliance.
  • The position requires a substantial amount of travel (on average 50%) and the incumbent will need to physically be able to perform the Location audits as required by our Company audit process.

Supervisory Relationships:

  • Position Reports To: Manager EHS Audit

Incumbent Attributes:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred with an EHS related field (i.e. engineering), or equivalent experience
  • Years of experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of EHS compliance related experience
  • Other unique job relevant attributes:
    • Possess basic auditing skills or be able to learn quickly based on training (internal to CF and external)
    • Experience with EHS compliance programs and familiarity with applicable EHS-related laws, rules and regulations
    • Industrial experience and knowledge of how EHS compliance requirements apply.
    • Experience working with EHSQ database systems
    • General competence in IT applications (e.g. Microsoft Office).
    • Must have accurate and consistent writing skills.
    • Must have excellent communication skills to discuss findings and best practices with all levels within the company.
    • Need to remain organized and be able to manage and prioritize actions of multiple projects at the same time.
    • Attention to detail and conscientious with effective planning and organizational skills
    • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly and in an organized manner managing assigned tasks within specified timelines with minimal supervision
    • Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.
    • Need to be able to identify and discern potential risks to the company and focus audit efforts to understand adherence to expectations and when appropriate to dig deeper when inconsistencies found.
    • May need to manage work scope and budgets from third party consultants assisting on the audit team.
    • Need to be able to accurately and clearly explain findings and the basis of findings to management.
