Business Profile:

Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. We hold quality accreditations for all of the major airframe and engine manufacturers for both civil and military applications. Wyman-Gordon creates rotating closed-die forgings which are critical for aerospace and land-based gas turbines. Wyman-Gordon also manufactures structural forgings for airframe, nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space applications.

Location Profile:

Located in South Gate,Dickson Testing Company, Inc. is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services and heat treat capability.

Position Summary:

Machinists/operators, under direct supervision, load and unload parts in operation of 2 - 5 axis CNC/Automated mill and lathe machine tools to produce complex machined aerospace parts. Level one machinists are responsible for in process inspection of machined product, which requires basic competencies in shop math, hand measuring tools and documentation. Level one machinists are responsible for some deburr operations as well as basic preventative machine maintenance, which includes coolant and lube levels and area cleanliness.

  • Comply with PCC Code of Conduct Requirements and all PCC Cardinal Rules (e.g. Quality and Safety).
  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
  • Perform proper inspections of general tools, such as but not limited to height gauges, bore gauges, profilometer etc.
  • Have a basic understanding of GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerance)
  • Knowledge of basic machine setup and tool selection.
  • Knowledge of basic machine work setting and toll offsets
  • Ability to load and indicate fixtures
  • Ability to adjust offsets
  • Maintain machine control "distance to go"
  • Maintain accuracy by setting up first run proofing
  • Knowledge of Lathe Setup
  • The ability to operate 2x Lathes simultaneously
  • Manage tool wear to assure part protection
  • Maintain SPC Control
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, & specifications
  • Respond to machining process quality queues "i.e. Surface Finish" to assure quality
  • Ability to operate mills and grinders.
  • Ability to operator CNC equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1+ years of related experience and/or training is required.
  • One-year certificate from a college or technical trade school is preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing preferred.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $18.00 to $34.75 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
