Job Summary:

An Experienced Senior Associate in the Industry Specialty Services Group's Nonprofit and Grantmaker Advisory team provides professional services that are sensitive to the needs and values of both nonprofit organizations and funders that support them. This is a unique opportunity for a mission-oriented professional who wants to leverage their nonprofit and/or financial management expertise to support nonprofit organizations across many mission areas and geographic reach.

The Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory team is a growth-oriented management consulting practice dedicated to building the capacity of the nonprofit sector. We partner with our nonprofit and philanthropic clients to help them attain operational excellence, ensure financial sustainability, and effectively achieve their desired impact. Our collaborative approach includes client input and involvement at each stage of an engagement.

Responsibilities vary based on engagements and client needs and require an independent and multi-talented professional with nonprofit or philanthropic experience and a consulting mindset. The consultant must be collaborative, proactive, and flexible, adapting to evolving project requirements and circumstances.

Job Duties:

Service Delivery

  • Delivers increasingly complex nonprofit, state and local organizations and/or higher education consulting services including but not limited to compliance assessments (2 CFR 200, HHS, NIH, USAID)
  • Reviews and develops client policies and procedures related to accounting, contracts, and pricing, often in accordance with US Government rules and regulations
  • Supports planning and analysis projects, including multiyear financial models, budget development, and cash flow planning
  • Provides direct and indirect cost rate structure design and analysis
  • Assists organizations with client proposals, provides strategic budgeting assistance, analyzes RFPs, and prepares cost proposals/budgets
  • Aids in the drafting, revising, and formatting of client reports, presentations, memos, and correspondence
  • Supports leadership teams in making financial decisions including presenting analysis and findings and effectively communicating complicated financial information to a variety of audiences that have varying levels of financial literacy
  • Other duties as required

Project Management

  • Serves as primary contact in client engagements and effectively manages relationships with multiple stakeholders, including funders, nonprofit staff and Board leaders, and internal team members
  • Serves as a project manager for multiple client projects, supporting the team to manage deadlines and ensure client needs are met

Practice and Product Development

  • Actively participates in the expansion and development of services for nonprofits, including monthly meetings and other areas of product development
  • Identifies ways to make engagements more efficient and productive

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assists in the supervision, development, and training of Associates and Interns
  • Reviews and evaluates work prepared by Associates and Interns
  • Trains Associates and Interns on how to use current software tools and Government Contracting methodology
  • Schedules and supervises workload of Associates and Interns
  • Provides verbal and written performance feedback to Associates and Interns

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Accounting, required
  • MBA, MPA, or related master's degree, preferred

Experience:

  • Four (4) or more years of demonstrated experience in tax exempt organizations (Nonprofit, State & Local or Higher Education) OR four (4) years of experience in financial management or consulting, required

License/Certification:

  • N/A

Software:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, required
  • Experience with grants management, CRM, accounting, or other related nonprofit software, preferred

  • N/A

Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and present findings to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Knowledge of US Government rules and regulations related to accounting, contracts, and pricing
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

California Range: $90,000 - $100,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $90,000 - $100,000
