About This Role

iRhythm is seeking an Intellectual Property (IP) prosecution Paralegal with experience supporting IP litigation to join an established but rapidly expanding in-house legal team. The candidate will assist the Director, Global IP in the practice of intellectual property law, specifically patent prosecution, and in the management of IP litigation. Candidate must be able to hit the ground running and manage the entire spectrum of paralegal responsibilities within the prosecution and litigation life cycles. Candidate must bedetail oriented and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with cross-functional collaboration, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of patents, trade secrets, copyrights and/or trademarks
  • Draft and prepare legal documents appropriate to IP prosecution
  • Docket and take appropriate action to monitor and meet USPTO prosecution deadlines, while coordinating with firm-wide IP attorneys and paralegals on related matters
  • Monitor applications and file responsive forms
  • File replies or requests for reconsideration during phases of prosecution
  • Conduct patent research
  • Provide paralegal support to attorneys during patent litigation, which may include drafting and preparing legal documents appropriate to the litigation, docketing, and taking appropriate action to monitor and meet court deadlines
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, USPTO personnel, court personnel, experts, attorneys, and others as directed.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree plus a paralegal certificate (ABA-approved preferred) or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
  • Possess 3+ years of patent prosecution experience and including intellectual property litigation experience with an emphasis on patent litigation matters.
  • Experience in filing electronically with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and writing skills
  • Receive and follow complex instructions.
  • Establish priorities and work concurrently on a variety of projects
  • Perform all assignments in strict compliance with ethical guidelines governing the practice of law
  • Consistently exhibit a high degree of professionalism
  • Use initiative and discretion in accomplishing routine assignments with minimum supervision. Direct and coordinate activities of law office support personnel.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with docketing software and legal e-billing systems is a plus.

Actual compensation may vary depending on job-related factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.

Estimated Pay Range
$86,300$125,700 USD
