Job Overview

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day.

The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery Neurotrauma Laboratory, is seeking an entry level research assistant with a science background in neuroscience. The incumbent will participate in bench science research projects in the area of traumatic brain injury and spreading depolarizations. Duties can span a broad range of activities or be primarily focused within one or more areas of the laboratory located in the Medical Sciences Building. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

Essential Functions
  • Perform experiments and record data according to research protocols.
  • Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.
  • May assist in animal colony management and animal husbandry.
  • Apply research principals for less complex assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with contract principles, federal regulations, laws and University of Cincinnati (UC)/University of Cincinnati Physicians Company (UCPC) policy and operating procedures.
  • Maintain regulatory documentation. Assist with preparing IACUC submissions.
  • Liaison with laboratory staff, university departments, ancillary departments, and research collaborators
  • Synthesize experimental findings by writing presentations and manuscripts
  • Disseminate laboratory findings at conferences and in publications

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
