Title: Material Handler Reports to: Material Handler Lead

Dept: Material Handling FLSA: Non-exempt

Position Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for shipping, receiving, and warehousing of finished goods, raw materials, packaging materials and other supplies to support production. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventory counts and reconciliations. Ensures accurate inventory levels are maintained, informs other departments regarding information needed to plan and execute production. Operate electric and gas-powered forklifts to move materials both indoors and outdoors. Operate robot palletizers.

Essential Functions

  • Load finished product into trailers.
  • Unload and load production materials into trailers.
  • Manage warehouse inventory and flow.
  • Stage materials for production.
  • Perform warehouse sanitation.
  • Package and move recycling and production waste.
  • Communicate with other team members and production through RedZone chat.
  • Keep accurate and neatly written documentation.
  • Rotate through all production forklift positions.
  • Operation of powered industrial equipment including gas and electric forklifts, stand up forklift, attachments for those forklifts including tote dumper.
  • Operate and troubleshoot all robot palletizers on the Tualatin campus.
  • Always follow GMP and safety regulations.
  • Use of SAP and RF Scanner for receiving materials and loading finished goods.

Secondary Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • This position is not supervisory in nature.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to operate with moderate supervision, be detail oriented, and exercise independent judgment.
  • Good customer service skills. Ability to recognize, anticipate and respond to the needs of internal customers.
  • Intermediate math skills (arithmetic, fractions/proportions, unit conversions, significant data, or number manipulation.)
  • Critical decision-making skills, creativity.
  • Skilled with MS Office, ERP/MRP systems and WMS.

Minimum qualifications:

The position requires a high school degree or equivalent. 2-4 years of experience in warehouse environment preferred. Safety requirements dictate that body weight must not exceed the maximum limit as indicated on the harness. Must have ability to become certified on powered industrial equipment.

Working conditions:

  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment.
  • The position is subject to shift work, overtime, the use of and exposure to extreme cold (freezer), hazardous materials, and high voltage.
  • Physical activities including heavy lifting; frequent walking, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, carrying, and standing while driving equipment.
  • Ability to push up to 300 pounds, pull up to 500 pounds and lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • While performing the duties of the job incumbent may be working around moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level is typically mild to moderate.
  • Alternative Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 3 or 4 days per week
    • Front Half Days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, every other Wednesday 6am-6:30pm
    • Back Half Days: Every other Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6am-6:30pm
    • Front Half Nights: Every other Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 6pm-6:30am
    • Back Half Nights: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, every other Saturday 6pm-6:30am

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
