Position Summary

The Clinical Coordinator of the Radiologic Technology Program (RAD) is responsible for correlating and coordinating clinical education with didactic education and evaluating its effectiveness. The Clinical Coordinator serves as an instructor in the program, participating in didactic, lab, and clinical instruction. The Clinical Coordinator should be committed to student-centered, outcomes-based education, incorporating multiple instructional strategies and the use of technology in teaching and learning. The Clinical Coordinator prepares and maintains course outlines, as well as evaluates students' progress. The Clinical Coordinator should demonstrate a proven ability to teach introductory and upper college-level radiologic technology students who are part of a diverse student population. Courses to be instructed include lectures (including online when needed), lab, and clinical site visits for a total of 30 faculty load hours per year. The position requires in-state travel to affiliate clinical sites as needed.
The Clinical Coordinator is also responsible for participating in the accreditation and assessment processes, as well as assisting the Program Director in ensuring full compliance with JRCERT accreditation standards.
The Clinical Coordinator is expected to participate on committees in the department, school of health sciences, and the college. Additionally, the Clinical Coordinator should be a proven team player with an ongoing commitment to personal and professional development in order to maintain current knowledge of radiologic technology, educational methodologies, and appropriate expertise and competence, as well as have the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body. The Clinical Coordinator must hold and maintain current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration in radiography, as well as a Radiographer License from the Maryland Board of Physicians.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional and Clinical Coordination Duties:
Serve as the primary liaison between the clinical sites and the academic program/college.
* Ensure the communication of activities, news, and other information to maintain knowledge of the academic program.
* Foster clinical faculty development; communicate the philosophy of the academic program, the academic curriculum, the objectives of the clinical experience, and the policies and procedures of the academic program
* Assist the Program Director in developing written orientation materials and arranging appropriate orientations for new college and clinical faculty and clinical site staff.

Instructional and Clinical Coordination Duties:
Serve as an instructor in the program with a full-time load. Depending on student needs, this may include face-to-face, online, or hybrid instruction and instruction at off-site locations.
Maintain 6 office hours per week during each semester for student advising and mentoring.
Travel to clinical sites and perform Clinical Preceptor duties as needed based on staffing each semester.

Instructional and Clinical Coordination Duties:
* Work directly with clinical site clinical education departments to ensure all onboarding requirements are met by the students for timely placement for clinical rotations.
* Stay abreast of ever changing medical/vaccination requirements and protocols within the college as well as the clinical sites and disseminate information in a timely manner for the protection of students and faculty.
* Work with the Health Admissions office in monitoring the required student documents to ensure all student records are up-to-date and available to the clinical site education coordinators.

Instructional and Clinical Coordination Duties:
* With the assistance of the program director, develop and maintain current records for the academic program's clinical education experiences, clinical facility information, and clinical affiliation contracts.
* In cooperation with the program director, supervise clinical site activities, including student/faculty scheduling, site coordination, site evaluation, and site development.

Instructional and Clinical Coordination Duties:
Assist the Program Director with developing long-term and short-term planning objectives for the academic program's clinical courses and/or clinical assignments.
Review and revise the RAD curriculum as necessary to comply with JRCERT and industry standards.

Instructional and Clinical Coordination Duties:
* Assist the Program Director with the development of Independent Study Courses for returning students to include didactic, lab, and clinical needs.
* Assist the Program Director in building lab schedules, open lab schedules, and clinical schedules for both faculty loading and semester scheduling.

Instructional and Clinical Coordination Duties:
Assist the Program Director as needed in compiling Learning Outcomes Assessment data related to clinical courses for AACC resources and accrediting body self-study reports and annual reports.

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the Program Director with recruiting and developing clinical education sites, including:
* Developing and securing new clinical affiliates/clinical sites and required agreements with the Instructional Coordinator.
* Maintains an adequate number of clinical sites relative to quality, quantity and diversity of learning experiences to meet the clinical teaching needs and philosophy of the academic program.

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:
* Retains current information pertaining to clinical facilities in accordance with regulations implemented by the academic program's accreditation agency (when applicable).
* Oversees the flow of information pertaining to clinical facilities including policies and procedures and the Clinical Affiliation Agreement.

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Program Director in developing and maintaining contingency plans in the event clinical sites are temporarily or permanently unavailable to place students.

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:
* Participate in local and statewide forums designed to foster clinical education.
* Participate in program committees and advisory boards to help foster clinical education.
* Maintain involvement in regional clinical education groups or consortium activities as applicable.

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Program Director in marketing and recruitment efforts.
Assist the Program Director in developing retention strategies and activities.

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in college, state, and national professional education activities to promote the program and maintain curriculum currency, as well as maintain professional ARRT and Maryland Board of Physician credentials.
Participate in department, school, and college/community service activities.
Other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Assistant Dean, or Dean.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of an associate's degree or meets the JRCERT eligibility requirements for a clinical coordinator/full-time didactic faculty. Must obtain bachelor's degree within 24 months of hire.

Minimum of two years of clinical experience in the field of Radiologic Technology.

Holds a current Radiographer License from the Maryland Board of Physicians.

Holds current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration in radiography.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Minimum one year experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited program.. Experience as a clinical preceptor in a JRCERT accredited program.

Experience or knowledge of ARRT curriculum requirements and JRCERT accreditation process.

Proficient at curriculum/course development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing in Spanish or another language.

Ability to handle multiple, complex tasks simultaneously.

Ability to function with minimal supervision with attention to details and deadlines including the ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to accommodate the needs of the school.

This position is overtime exempt.
