Overview

BM TRADA part of Element, has a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Manager to join our growing Management Systems team. This role will report directly to our Head of Audit Resources, and will operate as an instrumental part of the team supporting with Technical Competence.

BM TRADA exists to help make certain that the materials, products and processes that we test, inspect and certify for our customers are always safe, of the highest quality and fit for purpose. You will be responsible for undertaking Management System audits supporting a variety of clients across the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities
    Deputise for the Head of Auditor Resources as required
  • Undertake direct line management, performance monitoring and reporting for the employed audit team
  • Carry out 3rd party audits
  • Support and develop the competence of the audit team delivering audit services within the System Certification Business Unit
  • Develop the short / medium and long-term strategy for competency resources to support the current and potential revenue streams
  • Undertake auditor profile reviews and formulate training plans
  • Undertake the competency review and system and identify changes and updates, suggesting improvements where required, including completion of auditor competency interviews
  • Organisation and delivery of annual auditor update days in conjunction with departmental and wider business staff including additional auditor training as required
  • Contribute towards the weekly and monthly SQDC calls, delivering this to the employed staff then wider audience as noted
  • Provide performance reports
  • Assist in technical queries related to BM TRADA Certification Schemes for the audit team - both employed and sub-contract
  • Development of legislative and technical bulletins related to BM TRADA Certification Schemes for the audit team to support the currency of their knowledge
  • Attendance and participation at appropriate forums
  • To maintain professional status and CPD requirements in accordance with accreditation and business requirements and to develop new competency and product skills as required
Skills / Qualifications
  • Ideally educated with a degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Sound knowledge of core Management Systems standards and / or supply chain standards
  • Experience with managing a team
  • Experience of the certification industry with ability to coach and mentor peers
  • Good MS Office skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both written and oral
  • Prompt, accurate and reliable and an ability to work to deadlines
  • Prepared to take on additional challenges as and when they are identified
  • Strong motivation, commitment, and resilience to lead success and influencing change management
  • The ability to develop strong working relationships within the team, with colleagues at all levels, and clients
