POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Quality Analyst I performs routine quality control inspection, testing and data analysis for various incoming, in-process, and final products within MSD's protein-based immunoassay catalog. This position will execute various laboratory cleaning activities to help support overall operations of Quality/Product Control.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Complete testing of incoming, manufactured, and in-process materials using analytical characterization and/or immunoassay testing techniques (e.g. ELISA).Analyze resulting test data against product specifications.
* Create and/or maintain quality documentation and data summaries in compliance with ISO standards.
* Operate standard laboratory equipment including micropipettes, plate washers, automated liquid handling systems, analytical instrumentation, and plate readers.
* Adhere to organizational and laboratory safety standards including the proper use of personal protective equipment in BSL-1 and BSL-2 laboratories.
* Complete scheduled work daily while working in a fast-paced environment with a minimum of deviations.
* Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
* Associate's degree in relevant field required.
o High School Diploma and additional experience may be substituted for Associate's degree.
o Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Understanding of basic molecular biology techniques.
* Pipetting skills with high precision and accuracy preferred.
* Ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding environment with changing priorities.
* Solid interpersonal skills
o Ability to effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of laboratory data.
* Attention to detail with demonstrated commitment to excellence and performance.
* Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
* Proficiency in MS Office suite.
o Experience with standard data analysis tools and databases (Excel, Access, SharePoint).
* Ability to work outside of normal business hours to include long hours, weekends and shift schedules.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* There are aspects of this position that may require a person in this role be able to work at heights up to four (4) feet on occasion and with objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
* Up to 100 % of the day may be spent sitting or standing at a desk/lab bench working with a computer or other items that will require fine motor manipulation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Laboratory environment working with chemical reagents and performing some Biosafety Level 2 work.
o May involve handling of BSL-2 or BSL-2+ materials and organisms including human blood and/or blood products.
