POSITION SUMMARY:


The Payroll Analyst is motivated by the success of BBSI's branches and internal teams. The primary objective of the position is to work with our internal branch employee base to provide payroll processing and consultation as well as working with the team to improve process efficiencies. The Payroll Analyst also works in partnership with other positions within the corporate operations team, accounting and human resources.

This person must demonstrate solid understanding in all areas of payroll, including processing, reporting, systems, taxation of wages, wage and hour laws, time and attendance, garnishment processes, and operational best practices.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Head of Payroll Transformation and works in partnership the Director of Human Resources and other operations positions, as well as providing direct support and accountability to our field teams.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Company-wide, multi-state payroll expert and key resource for maintaining payroll platforms, supporting the development and execution of consistent and efficient processes, and ensuring compliance with all BBSI Policies and Procedures

Responsibility for day-to-day Payroll processes for the corporate office payrolls including but not limited to:

Consistent, accurate and timely processing of payroll including maintaining payroll records, reports, and documents

Year-end processing of payroll including annual fringe benefits, W-2's audits and other tax forms or government required documentation

Maintain time off accruals for employees via the myBBSI/Prism system

Prepare and maintain bonus calculations using parameters established by senior management

Prepare standard and ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed by internal or third parties including payroll data for budgets, and payroll analysis for audit

Ownership of Corporate Payroll audit controls including narratives, test step validation and work with internal audit team to develop controls as needed, and ensuring controls meet companywide benchmarks

Validate data interfaces between myBBSI, Prism, and Time Net to ensure they are processing on schedule, completely, and accurately

Coordinate and execute system and/or integration file testing as applicable for regulatory changes, enhancement/system upgrades or configuration changes

Support the accounting team to maintain accurate accounting records related to PTO accruals, expense reimbursement

Evaluates and recommends ongoing system process improvement enhancements

Ensures quality and timely processing of HR documents and data, including new hire processing, job changes and promotions, performance management, terminations, and other data entry associated with Human Resources/Payroll.

Perform voids, payroll adjustments, stop checks, check verifications, employee and agency garnishment inquires and audits, W-2 and W-2c administration

Data entry and file maintenance

Other duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned

Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, applicable federal and state wage and tax laws, benefits administration, and compliance regulations surrounding payroll

A proactive, hands-on problem solver with solid analytical and process improvement skills with demonstrated ability to improve and streamline business processes

Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills including ability to meet communicated deadlines and act as primary owner of individual projects, analyses, and processes

High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables and functions)

Strong written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated ability to provide high level of customer service; interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and professionalism

Must be capable of leading and creating a positive work environment

Ability to work in partnership with all levels of employees up to and including senior management, and various BBSI branches across the US

Minimum 8 years of payroll experience and / or supervision for multi-state payroll processing

Experience working in an environment with SOX controls and auditors


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 7 years of proven experience in a multiple state payroll environment

Demonstrated experience managing multiple payroll systems in a multi-state, muti-pay cycle workforce

Proven experience working with highly sensitive information

The highest level of ethics, discretion, and ability to keep information confidential

Systems orientated including proficiency in MS Excel

Knowledge of wage and hour laws, garnishment laws, and taxability of wages

Solid understanding of the payroll lifecycle, amendments, and payroll deductions

Comprehensive knowledge of all federal and state payroll tax, wage and hour law and payroll policies

Bachelor's degree required; CPP or FPC designation a plus

Extensive third-party payroll experience a plus

SQL experience a plus


Salary and Other Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is between 80,000.00-90,000.00 per year. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography, skills, education, experience, certifications, and other qualifications of the candidate.

This position is also eligible for annual incentive pay equal to 8% of annual regular pay, prorated in the first year, in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan.
