The Account Manager - Locomotive will generate, pursue and preserve locomotive leases both under the net term and also contract maintenance. They will create and maintain individual relationships with both internal and external customers to achieve revenue goals on both new leases and renewals. They will also work diligently to grow the reach of the GATX brand within the Locomotive business and actively search for fleet acquisition opportunities. This role will interact with all departments within the North American Rail group, specifically the mechanical and financial sides of the business, on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement account management strategies consistent with the operating strategies of GATX to consistently achieve defined sales targets.

    Identify and act on leads to develop new customer contacts.
  • Be able to price proposals on both new leases and renewals to meet GATX revenue, profitability and utilization goals.
  • Perform with minimal supervision and relative ease all day-to-day business activities related to quoting, negotiating and the management of customer relationships.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of existing and potential customers and the markets they serve.
  • Gather information available through market research, internet and news articles to analyze and understand where GATX products can be of service.
  • Seek and develop opportunities to purchase existing fleets for sale/leaseback as well as outright purchase and sale of locomotives.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree required - preferred Business - Marketing/Finance concentration
  • 5-10 years experience in rail industry
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of financial concepts
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Able to initiate contact with an unknown person or company to initiate sales opportunities
  • Independent travel up to 50% throughout North America. Candidate will be required to participate at industry events as well as the identification of potential customers along with managing accounts.
  • Remote role

As of April 29, 2024, the salary range for this position is $132,000-145,000. This range for this position is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity and other business needs.
