Job Description

The Employee Relations Partner provides consultation and guidance to leaders and employees on employee relations matters. In collaboration with the Manger, Employee Relations and Sr. Director, this position provides critical support to the organization by participating in driving improvements to policies, processes and controls as required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Handles routine employee relations inquiries related to policies, procedures.
  • Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee issues.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of employment laws and regulations related to the Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and human resources.
  • Ensures uniform application of HR policies and procedures. Conduct thorough review of disciplinary actions to ensure the collection of factual information and that determinations are consistent with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Conducts workplace investigations related to reports of hostile work environments, harassment, hotline complaints etc.
  • Coach and consult with leaders in order to implement positive practices in order to impact employee engagement and retention.
  • Serve as a liaison for employees to ensure an open channel for employee feedback and communication of employees concerns to leadership.
  • Responds to unemployment and other regulatory claims.
  • Establish effective partnerships with all People Team Centers of Excellence to identify and address staffing issues (e.g., retention, engagement, etc.)
  • Researches and explains policies and employment laws to leaders and employees.
  • Advises and educates leaders on best employee relations practices and strategies for managing employment related problems and employee grievances.
  • Collaborates with legal counsel, Compliance Department, and others on employee related matters.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, or related field required. Five years of Human Resources Employee Relations and or Consulting/Business Partner experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum five years Human Resources experience with at least 3 years handling employee relations matters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles of human resources, including commonly used guidelines and employment laws.
  • Strong knowledge of employment and EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) laws and regulations. Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances and policies.
  • Highly developed problem solving, investigative and analytical skills, resulting in strong ability to identify issues, write reports and make recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, problem-solving skills and analytical skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Power Point
  • Certification/Licensure/Registration: PHR or SPHR or SHRM-SCP, SHRM CP Certification preferred.
