Position Description

Zayo is seeking a Vice President of Fiber Operations to play a critical role in enhancing and expanding the infrastructure of our fiber network.Our Vice President of Fiber Operations will lead fiber engineering, physical network relocations, emergency repair processes, initiatives aimed at expanding and optimizing our fiber optic network, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and performance to meet the growing demands of our customers. This leadership position requires a strategic mindset, technical expertise, and a passion for driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of professionals, including engineers, project managers, and technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.

  • Accountable for technical leadership and oversight of the architecture, planning, design, implementation, capacity management, and maintenance of fiber optic network infrastructure, adhering to industry best practices and standards.

  • Meet or exceed operational service level performance objectives, including network reliability, capacity management, network maintenance and hardening, on-time performance, and NetEx/ NetOps budget management.

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with fiber network augmentation projects, proactively addressing issues and challenges to minimize disruptions and delays.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executives, departments, and cross-functional teams, to align fiber network augmentation initiatives with business priorities and customer requirements.

  • Interface with external customers as needed to understand objectives, resolve key concerns, and develop a high degree of customer satisfaction.

  • Build the teams with the talent, skills, and experience needed to meet Zayo's goals. Recruit, develop, and retain high-caliber talent, especially for key leadership positions, and develop a robust career ladder with the team.

  • Build a culture of innovation and engagement, focusing on strengthening Zayo's brand and positioning Zayo as an employer of choice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a technology-related field; Masters Degree, preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 (ten) years of leadership experience in the telecom industry with emphasis on engineering, fiber optic network operations, and augmentation.

  • Ability to manage large technical teams across multiple disciplines and locations.

  • Deep technical expertise in fiber optic network design, deployment, and maintenance.

  • Excellent strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to drive initiatives from conception to completion.

  • Ability to think strategically and demonstrate outstanding critical thinking and decision-making skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Must possess outstanding written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills as they interface with teams, peers, customers and vendors.

  • Knowledge of emerging trends and developments in the technology and engineering fields.

Base Pay Range: $225,000 - $275,000 USD/annually, commensurate with experience.
