About the College/Unit/Department
The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) manages and executes the financial aid operations, programs, and processes for the campus. OSFA oversees the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid provided to the UGA student body. With approximately 42 employees OSFA has responsibility for all financial aid received by the UGA student body in the form of grants, scholarships, loans, and work programs. OSFA annually administers in excess of $500 million in student financial aid for UGA students.

Position Summary
This is an advanced professional position that works in the analytical and technical aspects of research related to student financial aid and enrollment management. Work involves the design and direction of research and operational projects relating to the operation of the Office of Student Financial Aid including analysis of operations reports, analytical or modeling studies, management information systems, and special studies dealing with students and student financial aid. Other duties include the design of research projects, supervision of the collection and analysis of data, interpretation of findings, and organization of the conclusions in form(s) suitable for use by University administration. This incumbent works with the Associate Director of Banner Operations & Research to identify and implement system modifications needed to implement statutory, regulatory and policy changes and to enhance the student aid delivery process. Autonomously analyzes complex problems related to awarding, monitoring and disbursing student financial aid. Also assists the Associate Director for Banner Operations & Research in formulating, monitoring, and coordinating Enrollment Management research. Analyze system requirements and prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Formulate and define system scope and objectives to develop or modify business applications. Develop, code, test, implement and document internal and external web sites and applications. Support production application system operation as needed.

  • Prepare appropriate reports, charts, narratives, and presentations for use by the University community.
  • Develops a broad knowledge of emerging tools for data analysis and other tools to be utilized and supported in the Office of Student Financial Aid.

  • Develops, implements, and documents quality control measures to ensure integrity of student financial aid processing, including the timeliness and accuracy of awarding and disbursements, using both regular and ad hoc reports.
