Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $48,600 - Midpoint: $60,800 (Salaried E7)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.

Additional Department Summary: Postdoctoral positions are available at The University of Alabama to individuals with research interests. Individuals holding these positions are to conduct research with various faculty members on a variety of projects. The University of Alabama seeks applications for Postdoctoral positions. Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or areas covered by the College. The College and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology, Ecology, Marine Sciences, or related field.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge: Applicants must have a passion for coastal wetlands and field-based research on ecosystem functions, competence with statistical techniques and protocols to assess primary production, organic matter decomposition, marsh surface elevation change, and/or ecosystem responses to disturbance. Responsibilities will include designing and conducting experiments, analyzing and publishing datasets, presenting research at conferences or workshops, working collaboratively with other lab members and partners, and contributing to grant proposals or reports.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals and strong data management and statistical analysis skills. Preference will be given to candidates with field and laboratory work experience.
