The Warm Welcome Peer Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of peer services staff and activities at The Living Room and Blackburn Center. Pre-Treatment is an innovative trauma-informed Community Healing Center that fosters holistic recovery for Old Town Recovery Center (OTRC) and Blackburn Center clients.

The Peer Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Living Room and serves as the primary point of contact for the program, working collaboratively with peers, consumers, staff, volunteers and community partners. This position will work as a member of the Warm Welcome Team to provide meaningful engagement opportunities and access to low-barrier harm reduction interventions for vulnerable community members who are seeking stabilization, safety, and connection prior to formal behavioral health treatment services.

This position requires independent decision-making, program planning, budgetary compliance, staff supervision, and being a liaison with community partners. The Peer Supervisor provides team leadership and facilitates the development of Peer Services at Central City Concern.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Locations: Old Town Recovery Center & Blackburn Center

Minimum qualifications:

  • CRM or PSS required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience providing peer-delivered services as a Certified Recovery Mentor or Peer Support Specialist.
  • Two years supervisory experience preferred, or demonstration of previous leadership experience.
  • CRM II/PSS II preferred.
  • High School Diploma/GED/or high school level reading and writing skills
  • Must be registered with Traditional Health Workers Registry prior to start date.
  • Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA.
  • Must have CPR training and certification.
  • Must embrace the mission and philosophy of harm reduction and client centered treatment.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
  • The OAR prohibits A&D program staff from having within the previous 3 years a DUI conviction or diversion, a felony conviction, or a conviction under the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.
  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern's drug-free workplace which encourages a safe, healthy and productive work environment and strictly complies with the Drug-Free Work Place Ace of 1988. An employee shall not, in the workplace, unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess or use a controlled substance or alcohol.
  • Must adhere to agency nondiscrimination policies.
  • If using a vehicle for agency use, must possess a current driver's license, access to a vehicle, qualify as an Acceptable Driver as designated in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety policy. Must pass an initial drivers training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training. Must maintain vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 personal auto liability coverage. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

    Essential duties and responsibilities:

    • Ensure that Warm Welcome services are practiced according to the highest professional and ethical standards; assure that the health and safety needs of clients are met.
    • Coordinate with peer staff to ensure that daily activities for clients are planned, implemented, and coordinated with the team. Oversee use of the Living Room space and schedule.
    • Ensure assigned staff members are present. Follow up with supervisor for coverage support.
    • Facilitate regular Peer Services team meetings and develop agenda to include training topics, community partners and relevant information sharing across CCC teams.
    • Model safe language and demonstrate appropriate boundaries with peers and clients. Intervene and provide support when staff or clients are unsafe with language or behaviors.
    • Facilitate timely referral response and development with referral partners.
    • Ensure that CCC policies, procedures and expected practices are implemented, maintained, and followed.
      • Provide and document a minimum of 2-4 hours of supervision per month for each full-time staff supervised. The two hours must include one hour of individual face-to-face contact for each person supervised and a minimum of one hour of group supervision.
      • Ensure clinical privileging requirements are met for all direct reports pursuant to CCC's Privileging policy.
      • Complete annual performance reviews using research-based peer competencies
      • Recruit, hire and retain peer support specialists.
      • Implement corrective action plans when indicated in collaboration with Director of Operations and HR as needed.
    • Work to increase staff cultural sensitivity, awareness and competency.
    • Identify and coordinate staff training needs and ensure the team remains committed to a harm reduction model.
    • Promote shared understanding of Peer Services at CCC and role clarity for peer professionals across programs.
    • Assist CCC leadership to develop a cohesive Peer Services philosophy of care.
    • Review documentation to ensure that services delivered are clinically appropriate and effective.
    • Review and appropriately identify level of follow-up needed with critical incident reports.
    • Respond to client grievances.
    • Represent Central City Concern Warm Welcome program in the greater community.
    • Perform direct services to clients, including case management, assessments, and outreach activities as needed.
    • Participate in regular bi-weekly supervision with the program's supervisor, seeking additional supervision whenever necessary. Minimum requirement is two hours for full-time staff.
    • Work cooperatively with Senior Director of Mental Health Services, Director of Outreach Services, Director of Outpatient Operations, CCC compliance officer and Quality Manager to develop and maintain QI/UM plan and outcome data collection.
    • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners' and outside providers' patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving CCC services by CCC or an outside provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Skills and abilities:

    • Knowledge, education, training, skills, and experience in providing services in a highly diverse work environment to a highly diverse and mostly homeless population.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, and Harm Reduction. Demonstrated knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and Anti-Racist clinical practice.
    • Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.
    • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to display a non-judgmental attitude.

    • Must be able to work under stressful conditions. Must be able to work in an environment where people may be verbally hostile.
    • Knowledge of de-escalation methods or ability to be trained in de-escalation methods.
    • Knowledge of treatment and community resources
    • Knowledgeable about current trends and best practices related to substance use disorder and mental health treatment, recovery support, and integrated care via active participation in peer professional networks, meetings, trainings, and events.
    • Have the necessary computer skills to accomplish duties.
    • Sufficient advancement in personal recovery to appropriately facilitate clients' in theirs. Recognizing and supporting an individual's person preferences in how they support their recovery.
    • Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull, lift heavy objects, and climb stairs several times a day.
    • Timely completion of documentation, program reports, and data submission.
    • Manage emotions and feelings in an appropriate and professional manner. Ask for help when needed.
    • Value and respect the ideas of the team. Teach and model skills related to responsibility and accountability. Is accountable for all aspects of their job and practices good judgment. Appropriately and effectively respond to challenging incidents, incident debriefing etc.
