Spanish Bilingual Family and Children Recreation Specialist

As a Spanish Bilingual Family and Children Recreation Specialist you will provide opportunities for recreational programming for children and families. The Spanish Bilingual Family and Children Recreation Specialist is responsible for organizing and facilitating recreational activities and programs for families and children within a bilingual setting. They work to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where families can engage in educational, recreational, and social activities that promote physical, emotional, and cognitive development.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Spanish Bilingual Family and Children Recreation Specialist: $19.23
  • Pay commensurate with experience.
  • Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided.
  • Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Spanish Bilingual Family and Children Recreation Specialist Responsibilities Include:

  • Must speak, read, and write Spanish.
  • Exhibits cultural sensitivity/humility and provides culturally responsive programming.
  • Schedule and coordinate with local recreational facilities and charitable organizations to provide recreational services for children and families.
  • Manages all active recreation services with organizations and their facilities to provide children with the highest level of service possible.
  • Ensures that programming and services are accessible and meet the needs of all individuals and abilities.
  • Ensures age-appropriate recreational programming: talent shows, arts, youth sports, etc.
  • Create and manage fun activities delivery of structured recreational children's activities.
  • Facilitates ongoing communication with team-members to achieve effective and efficient program operations.
  • Knowledge of childhood development preferred.
  • Highly effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of screening and assessments related to child development and to child and care giver functioning.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Spanish Bilingual Family and Children Recreation Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Spanish/English bilingual fluency required, and additional languages preferred include French, Haitian Creole, Wolof, Pular, Fulah and other western African dialects.
  • Must have experience working with children, outdoor and indoor recreational activities, and children supervision.
  • Knowledge about outdoor and indoor environments with ability to plan and organize, be comfortable speaking with parents or families, work with a team, and have flexibility.
  • Positive, service-oriented attitude serving diverse groups of children regarding age, ethnicity, gender, race, economic status, and gender orientation.
  • Ability to development tactical and strategic plans, goals, and objectives.
  • Strong organization, planning and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to physical and mental education - including the ability to participate in these activities daily.
  • Ability to lift items over 20 pounds.
  • Crisis intervention experience preferred.
  • Must be organized as well as, have excellent verbal, written and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families, collaborating agencies, and community professionals
  • Past applicable job experience may include but is not limited to: Bilingual Youth Recreation Director, Family Programs Coordinator, or Family and Children Youth Coordinator.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
