Who we're looking for

This role will lead and oversee all aspects of our Software Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) Management and process. This role will be responsible for optimizing the SDLC, implementing best practices, and ensuring our software products are delivered on time, within budget, and with high quality.

This role is expected to act as a partner and strategic advisor for all IT areas and to engage and influence business and technology leaders to drive transformation needed to build/rebuild the structure and management systems needed to develop quality software.

This multifaceted role combines executive-level support, cross-organization interactions, SDLC process ownership and methodology development, SDLC implementation and oversight, training and knowledge dissemination, quality assurance and compliance, strategic engagement and management, and execution quality ensuring alignment with software development strategies and driving optimization of software development procedures.

Key responsibilities include

  • SDLC Process Ownership and Methodology Development:
    • Serve as the primary owner and custodian of the organization's SDLC processes (process definitions, policies, standards, procedures, templates, tools, etc.)
    • Develop, refine, and standardize SDLC methodologies across all solution delivery initiatives and development projects.
    • Champion the adoption of best practices in software development processes, including Agile, Waterfall, and DevOps methodologies.
  • SDLC Implementation and Oversight:
    • Ensure consistent implementation of SDLC processes across various teams and projects.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SDLC processes and make continuous improvements.
    • Lead the integration of SDLC processes with other business processes, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.
  • Training and Knowledge Dissemination:
    • Develop and conduct training programs for SDLC processes and methodologies.
    • Ensure that all development teams are proficient in the chosen methodologies and compliant with the processes.
    • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the organization.
  • Authority on SDLC Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Given the criticality of the SDLC, its influences to end-to-end technology delivery process, this role has direct authority over SDLC compliance processes across the entire organization with broader decision-making power regarding assurance and compliance.
    • Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure technology product delivery meet organizational standards and controls.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements related to software development.
    • Implement and manage tools and metrics to monitor process quality and efficiency.
  • Strategic Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead and mentor a team of SDLC specialists, project managers, and developers.
    • Align SDLC strategies with organizational objectives and collaborate with other departments for cohesive business operations.
    • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within and across teams.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Management:
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback and incorporate it into SDLC process improvements.
    • Manage expectations and communicate the benefits and changes in SDLC processes to stakeholders.
    • Build strong relationships with vendors and partners to enhance SDLC tools and practices.
  • Responsible for oversight of a team of 4+ team leaders / team members plus vendors with the following direct reports:
    • Leader - SDLC process management (process definitions, policies, standards, procedures, templates, tools, etc.), communication, education and training, adoption, and pilot programs
    • Team member - SDLC process assurance, governance, gates & controls, artifacts, and exception management
    • Team member - SDLC process automation and metrics / reporting
    • Leader - Domain SDLC support and process liaison

    • Currently such functions are lacking or unstructured, which pose significant delivery and governance risks.

    • Consolidating/restructuring current end to end software delivery process.
    • Adding: not being done today or being outsourced and managed by vendor

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in business or IT, or equivalent education and related training
  • Progressive experience in leadership, enterprise technology and operation experience including.
    • Significant experience in software development lifecycle management and process improvement.
    • Demonstrated expertise in implementing and managing various SDLC methodologies.
    • Strong leadership skills with experience in team management and training.
    • Excellent communication, analytical, and strategic planning abilities.
    • Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements in software development.
  • Experience in IT planning process in strategic planning and technology roadmap
  • Change management and organizational transformation experience.
  • Executive level communication skills including strong negotiation/facilitation/presentation skills.

  • Experience in banking industry or large financial institution
  • Moderate understanding of key banking solutions and applications
  • Moderate understanding of enterprise technology stacks and hands-on experiences with technology strategic planning and architecture.
  • A proactive approach to process optimization and innovation.
  • Strong facilitation skills to drive process adoption and change management.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and build consensus among diverse groups.
