midsouth.ualr.eduSummary of Job Duties:The Child Welfare Trainer is responsible for the delivery of New Staff Training for Family Service Workers, Supervisors, and Program Assistants employed by the Division of Children and Family Services. The position is responsible for providing individual consultation with new workers regarding knowledge/skill development and providing feedback to the worker and supervisor concerning the workers progress in training. The Child Welfare Trainer will also be responsible for the coaching of Safety Organized Practice, Structured Decision Making, or other contracted training initiatives for identified Division of Children and Families Services staff. The Child Welfare Trainer will work with the Regional Team Leaders, Statewide Trainer Coordinator, Safety Organized Practice Training Coordinator, and the Training Director to coordinate and facilitate child welfare training throughout the state. The Child Welfare Trainer reports to the Regional Team Leader. The Child Welfare Trainer will have regular contact with University personnel, DCFS and other public agencies, community professionals and the public. This is a full-time annually renewed grant-funded position and is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree;
  • Experience with children and/or families;
  • Experience with Arkansas DCFS Division Information Management System.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Master's Degree;
  • Experience and training in curriculum development and training delivery;
  • Current Arkansas licensure or certificate in the degree of study;
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in public child welfare;
  • Two (2)years' experience with Arkansas' Division Information Management System.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Training:

  • Serve as a primary trainer for Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Family Service Workers, Supervisors, and Program Assistants (PA) classroom and Division Information Management System (DIMS) training, including orientation and navigation training for all new Family Service Workers (FSW) and supervisors;
  • Provide training as prescribed by the DCFS-approved curriculum;
  • Provide coaching of Safety Organized Practice when requested;
  • Attend DCFS mandatory training and continuing education workshops when relevant to the position.

Consultation:

  • Provide individual consultation with new workers regarding knowledge/skill development;
  • Assist DCFS supervisors and area managers in meeting the workers' training needs;
  • Model professional communication and teamwork, both regionally and statewide;
  • Work collaboratively with DCFS staff and University Partners and maintain a monthly record of these contacts.

Development:

  • Assist with ongoing curricula revisions and the development of new curricula;
  • Participate in DCFS workgroups when requested;
  • Maintain a monthly contract log;
  • Perform related duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to travel in-state, which may include overnight stays and occasional out-of-state travel;
  • Ability to work, other than normal office hours, nights, and weekends;
  • Possess exemplary public speaking and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to use customer service initiatives for clients and the campus community;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to meet multiple program deadlines and manage multiple tasks;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office;
  • Possess a valid driver's license and dependable transportation;
  • Ability to maintain a contact log spreadsheet;
  • Knowledge of the Arkansas child welfare system;
  • Ability to train others.

Salary Information:

$45,000 - $48,000
