Job Description/Responsibilities

Sazerac's Quality Engineer is a root cause analysis and problem solving subject matter expert. They serve as a resource for the plants to perform Kaizen events, identify improvement opportunities, as well as, conduct root cause analysis and problem solving event. The Quality Engineer conducts supplier audits and supplies feedback to the Procurement team about improvement opportunities and the quality of supplier corrective actions.

    Utilize the PDS system to continually improve your skills through feedback and self-reflection. This position will also lead in building a quality talent base to ensure the continual improvement of the organizations quality skills and quality culture development
  • Work as a SME to conduct root cause analysis, problem solving and action plan development to fill gaps. Conduct audits at the plants and at suppliers to identify gaps in the systems and opportunities to improve quality and food safety.
  • Work with the Quality Managers and other department managers to identify and opportunities to improve quality and food safety systems and develop plans to implement the improvements. Conduct problem solving sessions to identify and eliminate the causes of quality and food safety issues. Bring practical experience to the table to assist the plants in the implementing projects to improve quality KPIs Conduct Kaizen events with the plants Serve as a RCPS SME for the plants Share best practices across sites Liaise with Procurement on the quality of supplier actions and improvement activities
  • Train employees on how to use good problem solving techniques. Assist with the development and implementation of Six Sigma program. The program will identify green and black belt candidates; ensure they receive excellent training. Assist with developing a project development program to ensure the pipeline is filled with improvement opportunities. Including: Analyze data to recommend next improvement opportunities and serve as a trainer for green belt and black belt candidates
  • Serve as a RCPS SME for the plants Analyze data to identify trends Stay up to date on changes in regulatory requirements and industry trends
  • Work with the Quality Managers to monitor and improve quality at the source efforts. In the end, all employees understand their role and responsibility for Quality/Food Safety and are engaged in the quality and food safety processes ensuring customer satisfaction Review data to identify negative trends in KPIs Work with the plants to implement projects to preempt negative trends
  • Help drive the quality and food safety ownership across the plants. Each employee will know their responsibilities to quality and food safety, metrics will be visible and showing positive trends. Quality is a primary discussion point.
  • Work with the plants to ensure our leading KPIs are trending in a positive direction. Assist them with identifying projects that will continue to improve quality. Share the success stories across the organization Analyze data to identify trends in quality KPIs Serve as an RCPS SME for the plants to help improve KPIs
  • Document control power user that trains employees on writing SOPs and work instructions and using the document control system. Troubleshoot and correct document control issues.
Qualifications/Requirements
MUST
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an org
  • Ability to formulate compliance solutions acceptable to both Government Agencies and Company Plants
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Strong customer service aptitude, ability to work with all levels of the organization from Field Level to Executive Management
  • Bachelors Degree or commensurate experience
  • Experience in process design, implementation and improvement
  • Strong computer skills and high comfort using technology and systems
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems/processes
  • 5 years Lab/QC or related experience
PREFERRED
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Experience with processing/batching activities
  • 3 years Alcoholic Beverage Industry compliance experience
  • 3 years Experience designing and/or implementing OSHA, HACCP, USDA programs
  • Speaks Foreign Language(s)
