Manufacturing Sciences Corporation (MSC) is a Specialty Metal Manufacturer with the ability to process & manufacture technology metals in an Environmentally Sound, Safe, and Controlled location. We have over 35 years of experience with depleted Uranium. We are the only commercial organization globally capable of casting, rolling, and machining products from depleted Uranium.

A successful candidate will operate and have basic Mastercam programming skills to use our computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts and work in a radiation environment. Familiarity with the following CNC machines is a plus: Haas VF 6/40 Vertical Machining Center, Haas SL30 CNC Lathe, Haas DS-304 Lathe, Mori Seki Duracenter 5 Machining Center, Okuma Howa V100R Vertical Turret Lathe, Toyoda SB2116 Bridge Mill.

The machinist will load parts and materials into the machine, cycle the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The incumbent will run production lots, communicate with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintain a safe, organized, clean work environment. In addition, the machinist will be responsible for the list of duties:

  • Read, review, and understand schematics, blueprints, and drawing before beginning production
  • Create, modify, load, and run programs, understand and be able to navigate through Mastercam program database successfully
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
  • Must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing, and sanding.
  • Assure the quality of each part meets the specifications
  • Assist in other work areas, including but not limited to fabrication, lay-up, infiltration, furnace operation, and sandblasting.
  • Ensure documentation, such as travelers and in-process check sheets, is properly completed.
  • Maintain all paperwork, time logs, quality inspection sheets, and rework sheets.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.


Minimum Required Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use measuring devices.
  • Must be able to follow routers.
  • Use simple math to perform basic calculations.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs without assistance.


Preferred Education & Experience:

  • 5-years prior machining experience
  • Tool and die experience a plus
  • Programming experience a plus
