Levi's is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Tax Manager, Tax Compliance and Controversy, to fill an opportunity in San Francisco. This position will report to the Director, International Tax.

The Tax Manager position is a critical role within the tax department. It is responsible for managing the U.S. federal and state tax compliance and tax controversy, assisting in global tax provision, partnering with IT to support the Company's ERP implementation, and identifying and leading opportunities to improve tax processes. This role has significant interaction with other members of the tax team, internal Finance, federal and state tax agencies, and external service providers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review and manage all aspects of U.S. domestic (federal and states) income tax compliance, including book/tax differences, state apportionment and adjustments, and estimated tax and extensions calculations
  • Manage tax calendar to ensure timely filings of all US income tax compliance, including corporate income tax and exempt organization returns
  • Assist in the Company's global tax provision for the quarterly and year-end close, including permanent/temporary book and tax differences, discrete items, proof of deferred taxes analysis, and blended state rate and apportionment calculations and analysis
  • Be a thought leader and lead key initiatives for process improvements where cross functional teams are engaged (including combination of compliance, reporting, international tax); ensure proper execution and documentation of the simplification and automation
  • Reconcile the US income tax receivable and payable accounts to ensure compliance, integrity of account balances for financial reporting
  • Manage federal and state income tax audits and tax notices
  • Perform tax research and prepare memos supporting conclusions
  • Be the point person in managing the U.S. federal and state income tax examinations, provide documentation to support the tax positions, and liaise and negotiate with federal and state audit agents

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience working in Big 4 and industry with multinational operations
  • BA/BS degree in accounting, CPA and/or Master in Tax is preferred
  • Experience in tax accounting and accounting principles (e.g., ASC 740, FIN 48, FAS 123R, SOX 404, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively. High degree of accuracy and proven ability to meet deadlines in a time sensitive environment
  • Preparation and oversight of the US multinational federal and state tax compliance is a must
  • Strong knowledge of US consolidated tax return rules
  • Must be a detail-oriented, organized thinker with strong analytical and computer skills
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels
  • Experience in ERP system implementation such as SAP S4 Hana is a plus
  • Experience in analytics tools, including Microsoft Power BI suite, Tableau and Alteryx and robotics process automation, and process improvement is helpful
  • Team player, self-motived, and willing to take ownership on projects

he expected starting salary range for this role is $120,000 to $160,000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance and business needs.
