As a Critical Facilities Engineer I, you will work on a team responsible for data center planning, design, installation and upgrading of all Critical Facilities for the VeriSign Data Centers. You will work on electrical, mechanical and fire/life safety equipment ensuring its continued operations. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance along with responding to emergencies. You will work on standby diesel generators, electrical switchgear, UPS, STS, PDU, air cooled chillers, CRAC/CRAH, pumps, motors, VFDs and building management systems. You will monitor and escort vendors assuring they perform correct and proper procedures. Most of all, you will be proud to work in an industry that combines trades into a role that is critical to the Internet.

This role does not require any previous Data Center experience. We are looking from someone with background in electrical, mechanical or building systems who is interested to move into the data center industry.

This position is required to be onsite and will be a swing swift role. Your normal working hours will be Monday - Friday first shift. As needed, you will swing to 2nd and 3rd shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, maintain and operate our critical facilities systems responding to emergencies as needed
  • Perform routine inspections and repairs of equipment that will combine your knowledge of electrical, mechanical and building systems
  • Assist and escort 3rd party vendors for repairs and maintenance, following detailed processes
  • Work within our computerized management system for work orders, change tickets and asset tracking
  • Document new process and procedures and peer reviews others documentation for accuracy
  • Rapid response to emergency situations using established process and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by your manager

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1 year of directly related experience in the electrical, mechanical, building facilities or fire/life safety field where you operated, installed, or maintained equipment
  • A high school diploma is required although additional training such as apprenticeships, military training or a college degree is desired
  • Digital literacy, with experience using MS Office (Outlook, Word, etc) is required; exposure to ticketing systems such as ServiceNow is preferred
  • Excellent at solving problems with a keen eye for spotting anomalies
  • Experience working with 120/208 volt circuits
  • Ability to walk up roof access ladders
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
