Electrical & Fastening Solutions Overview

POsition SUmmary

In this position, you will be hands on in setting up and programming new machining processes as well as helping to lead advanced troubleshooting efforts. You will serve as the technical expert within the department and help with the most challenging problems. You will have the opportunity to hone and master advanced machining skillsets across a variety of machine and material types. As an advanced machinist you will also have the opportunity to help to develop your skills by constantly improving machining processes as well as develop the skills of others. In this role you may establish and grow your machining career by working hands on with engineering and maintenance resources to tackle critical business problems. You will also grow your soft-skills by developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives as well as leading cross training efforts for other machinists.

Key role responsibilities

  • Work with supporting services to develop new machining processes and programs according to specifications.
  • Prove out new processes and help perform capability studies for new machines / processes
  • Work with engineering and vendors to complete tooling trials to improve tool life, cycle times, or part quality
  • Work as the chief technical resource within the department to help resolve technical concers and material flow issues
  • Interface with machine(s) to make andvanced adjustments in settings, tools, or fixturing to ensure safe, efficient, and high quality production within the department
  • May be asked to perform duties across all other machining jobs (run, setup, troubleshoot)
  • Completes work based on specifications, drawings, job routings, and/or Work Instructions. Provides assistance to others.
  • Works with quality to recommend gages and measuring equipment to ensure products meet specifications. Recognizes and reports gage and calibration issues
  • Maintains equipment and materials necessary to complete the operation. Recognizes and assists in resolution of mechanical issues
  • Meets and motivates others to meet established safety, quality, performance standards to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Records accurate information on Manufacturing Order, Quality Check Sheets, and other paperwork. Performs transactions necessary to maintain accurate records and inventory balances.
  • Complies and encourages others to comply with all applicable safety procedures, quality specifications, and 5S Standards. Reports adverse conditions, non-conforming products/procedures, and 5S violations to department leader in accordance to escalation procedure.
  • Adheres to daily 5S standards as well as help to institute improvement initiatives. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • In accordance with escalation procedure, notifies leadership or other appropriate resources while helping to resolve problems concerning safety, quality, equipment, operations, materials, inventory, documentation, etc.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by performing duties necessary to help the department succeed. Has a mastery of multiple types of machines. Actively recommends and engages in continuous improvement activities to meet customer needs.

  • Lenton Acme
  • Graphite CNC
  • Machine Shop CNC
  • Mastery level understanding of many Machine Operator III jobs

qualifications and experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Recommended minimum 8 years Manufacturing or Machine Operation work experience.
  • Able to develop full process set-up (mechanical, tooling, fixturing, programming)
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and mathematical competencies
  • Possesses mastery level knowledge of metal or graphite cutting processes
  • Experience in training others in machining disciplines
  • Has a mastery of inspection gages including; calipers, micrometers, thread gages, go / no-go gages, and others
  • Bend, squat down, twist and reach above your head
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Lift and carry at least 25 pounds
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced; multi-taksing environment and meet operational deadlines.
  • Self-Motivating and motivates others
  • Identify, escalate, and drive resolution of non-conforming process, product, or environmental issues
  • Ability to work with and help train others as a part of an agile and flexible workforce
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication
