Job Description

Responsible for performing industrial sewing machine setup, trouble shooting, repairs and preventative maintenance on Juki single needle and Pegasus overlock machines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform machine setup, trouble shooting, repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Make unscheduled repairs on production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment during machine servicing.
  • Read and interpret manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Assist in training sewing machine operators and other mechanics in proper setup, threading, and operation of machines.
  • Comply with safety rules and maintain a clean and orderly work area.


Skills/Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience with industrial sewing machine setup, trouble shooting, repair and maintenance.
  • In depth knowledge of industrial Juki and Pegasus sewing machines.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; verifying receipt.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others.
  • Complies with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
  • Diligently attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks.
  • Responsible for working according to the company's safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to listen, learn and communicate with supervisor and coworkers and take direction.
  • Good time management skills to meet/complete daily tasks and timelines.
  • Self-Motivated.
  • Displays a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate will frequently walk; reach with hands and arms and maneuver around work area throughout the shift. The associate may also spend a great deal of time sitting, squatting, reaching (at times above head) and using hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel. The Associate is occasionally required to balance, stoop and bends regularly to move/lift material or equipment (typically 50 lbs. or less).

The ability to hear and see with vision abilities in close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing / Production Floor: While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate however there may be areas designated as Hearing Protection required and provided earplugs are mandatory in those areas. Mechanics may also be required to work in confined spaces, roofs and at ceiling height levels.

Not all areas of the plant and warehouse are climate controlled and exposure to heat and/or cold can occur. In addition, when outside work is required, exposure to extreme heat or cold can occur. The Associate is frequently exposed to dust and floating particles used in the manufacturing, storage and inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
